A Golf Season Unlike Any Other

Jordan Spieth reads the green

Professionals like Jordan Spieth have come to rely on Under Armour for technologies and innovations that provide that extra edge on the greens.

As the golf brand for athletes, Under Armour knows exactly what the seasoned pro and the beginner need to take their game to the next level – whether you’re playing at Augusta or on your local course.

10 YEARS OF SPIETH

Coming off of a strong 2022 season with a notable win at the RBC Heritage and a couple close-to-first finishes already this year, Spieth is poised for success as he returns to Augusta for the 10th time.

Not only does 2023 mark his 10th appearance, it also marks his 10-year anniversary with Under Armour, who signed Spieth as an ambitious 19-year-old with no official tour status back in 2013.

Last year, Under Armour announced it would be extending its partnership with Spieth through 2029 and donating over $1 million over eight years to the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation.

The mutual decision was a reflection of Under Armour’s continued belief in Spieth and their shared commitment to breaking down barriers to sport all over the world.

TEAMWORK ON THE GREEN

Over the years, Spieth has shown that he has what it takes to get to the top. For him, it’s all about getting 1% better each day – whether that’s perfecting his time management skills or getting laser-focused on his short game.

And while Spieth credits some of his success to his demanding training routine, he also puts a lot of faith in his caddie, Michael Greller, while out on the course. Greller upended his career as a teacher to work as Spieth’s caddie in 2013 and has never looked back.

Greller has been a constant for Spieth over the last decade, taking on an important role as his teammate in what is typically seen as an individual sport.

Over the past 10 years, the two have formed a unique bond as teammates, relying on communication, consistency and patience to level up – a true embodiment of what it means to Protect This House

When Spieth hits his breaking points, Greller is who pushes him to keep going. Through the ups and downs, narrow defeats and massive victories, the two have become a force to be reckoned with and have gotten stronger, together.

“We’ve grown and learned together over the last 10 years,” said Spieth, “And throwing Majors into the equation has also helped us build a lot of trust in one another.”

While Spieth has proved time and time again that he likes to take some risks out on the course, Greller continues to keep him grounded when making those tricky shots.

“Most of the time, Michael leans the way he should when making a decision,” said Spieth. “However, I’m always the one hitting the shot and I don’t always like to lean into the safer shots.

Even if Michael looks at it from the correct lens, I let him know it’s always on me when missing those over-confident shots.”

With another Majors season upon us, the two are committed to digging deep for year 10. “We’re playing the long game together,” said Greller.

SWINGING IN STYLE

As always, Spieth will take on his 10th tournament in Augusta in style. His scripting looks will be characterized by various shades of his signature color – blue – complimented by UA HOVR Drive 2 Golf Shoes.

Greller, on the other hand, can often be seen in the UA HOVR Sonic Running Shoes, which offer high-mileage comfort while walking the greens.

Whether you’re on the PGA Tour or not, Under Armour has something for everyone so that you can look and play the part.

In addition to Spieth’s shoes, golfers can get their hands on some of Spieth’s other go-to looks, such as the UA Playoff PoloUA Drive Tapered Pants and UA Jordan Spieth Tour Hat.

New this year to the UA Golf footwear line, the UA Charged Phantom Spikeless Golf Shoes are rooted in performance and offer a different take on the traditional golf shoe.

With the support of a gym trainer and the traction of a golf shoe, this shoe was built specifically with the golf swing in mind, thanks to its rotational resistance. Not to mention, a UA Storm flat knit upper keeps water out so golfers can focus on their game.

“The Phantom is as comfortable as it is functional,” said Jake Haley, Senior Product Line Manager for Golf & Lacrosse Footwear at Under Armour.

“The shoe was adapted directly from one of our top trainers, offering the fit of a sneaker with the performance benefits of an elite golf shoe for the golfer looking to elevate their game.”

The UA Charged Phantom Spikeless Golf Shoes can be found on UA.com and in select UA Brand Houses for $130 USD.
