Amazing Work From Louis Alexander As He Runs Himself Into History With Eight Marathons Across Eight Australian Capitals

Louis Alexander Capital Runs Marathons

Louis Alexander has never been one for half measures. The 25-year-old British adventurer has just become the first person in history to run eight consecutive marathons across all eight Australian capital cities, wrapping up a world-first endurance feat in 6 days, 23 hours and 40 minutes.

That’s right—330 kilometres on foot, 6,000 miles of travel between races, and a climate roulette wheel that swung from near-freezing mornings in Canberra (3°C) to a sweat-bath in Darwin (33°C). If you think your commute is rough, try sprinting a marathon after a night spent dozing on an airport bench with nothing but jet fuel fumes and vending-machine dinners for company.

A One-Man Show of Stubbornness

Unlike most headline-grabbing endurance projects, Louis Alexander had no entourage waving gels or shouting encouragement from the sidelines. No soigneurs, no masseuses, not even a mate with a water bottle. Just petrol stations, corner shops, public fountains—and the sort of determination usually reserved for stubborn mules.

Each evening he hopped on yet another flight, often catching just two hours of sleep before tightening his laces for the next marathon. “I made the commitment before day one – if at any point the challenge stopped, I would have to go back to the beginning,” Alexander said. “So I decided to start and finish this once, and I’m so proud of every step, adversity and fight. This isn’t just about the last eight days, but the last eight months of training, preparation and sacrifice behind the scenes. The adventure really does start before you even leave home.”

From Seven Continents to Seven Seas

This wasn’t Louis Alexander’s first dance with the impossible. In 2024, he ticked off marathons on all seven continents and swam marathon distances across all seven seas, achievements that raised more than £50,000 for dementia research in memory of his grandfather. With that résumé, he could probably run across Australia sideways just for the fun of it.

“This was my last running project for a long time,” he admitted. “The truth is, I have so many dreams for my next chapter and plans for greater adventures and world records. Every career – even as an adventurer – must evolve. I believe the best is yet to come.”

Backers Behind the Madness

Even lone wolves need a bit of support, and Alexander’s latest feat was backed by headline sponsor Cinnamon Care Collection, alongside training and recovery partner The Body Lab.

As for what comes next, Louis Alexander isn’t saying much, but if past form is anything to go by, it won’t involve a comfy chair and a pint. Then again, after eight marathons in under a week, he’s probably earned both.
