Imagine showing up to your regular Creative Works session and being greeted by football legends Lucas Leiva and Martin ล krtel.
Thatโs exactly what happened to a lucky group of young adults at Saturdays Football NY Nolita in New York City.
In partnership with the LFC Foundation, Lucas and Martin dropped by to offer a few words of wisdomโand have some fun.
These two ex-Liverpool stars didnโt just come for the photo op. They sat down for a heartfelt Q&A, sharing stories about their football journeys, the challenges they faced, and what shaped them into the players and people they are today.
After that, they joined in on an interactive trivia quiz with the participants, making the experience both insightful and, well, pretty entertaining.
Lucas was clearly impressed by what he saw. “It was brilliant to meet such an inspiring group of young people and discover how the Foundation is helping them with their development, skills, and confidence.
Itโs always incredible to see how far-reaching and important the LFC Foundationโs work is. I hope everyone enjoyed the visit as much as Martin and I did.โ
The Creative Works Programme is no ordinary initiative. Itโs aimed at young adults between 16 and 25 across New York City and New Jersey, helping them gain essential skills for careers in the creative industry.
These arenโt just generic workshops eitherโparticipants get hands-on experience with professionals and entrepreneurs from companies like Stern Strategy, IREX, and Standard Chartered.
The programme pushes young people out of their comfort zones, building confidence and creating meaningful opportunities.
Since launching, Creative Works has supported 119 participants, working alongside organizations like South Bronx United and Cristo Rey Brooklyn.
And itโs workingโan impressive 90.67% of those who completed the programme reported a boost in their confidence.
Matt Parish, LFC Foundationโs chief executive, summed it up perfectly: โThe Creative Works Programme is all about empowering the next generation.
By connecting young adults with mentors from the creative industry and giving them hands-on experience, weโre helping them develop the skills needed to thrive in their future careers.โ
Lucas and Martinโs visit was the cherry on top, creating a memory that will stick with these young creatives for years to come.
