In a move that could only come from Forest Green Rovers—the club that makes other eco-conscious outfits look like they’re still playing with plastic pint glasses—the Gloucestershire side has once again thrown convention in the compost bin.
The world’s most sustainable football club has revealed its new playing kit for the 2025-26 season, and true to form, it’s bold, bright, and fully certified vegan.
Yes, you read that right. Forest Green Rovers have created the planet’s first football strip to receive full Vegan Society certification—not just for the fabrics or stitching, but right down to the dyes, which are entirely plant-based.

If that sounds a bit extreme, remember this is the same club that’s experimented with bamboo and coffee grounds in previous seasons. Sustainability, at Forest Green, is not a marketing stunt; it’s baked into the bootlaces.
“This season our new strip pushes the boundary again,” said club chairman Dale Vince, never one to shy away from a mission to green the game. “We’ve created the world’s first fully certified vegan football kit, by making sure the dyes we use, which are an often overlooked ingredient, are plant-based.
Our new shirt is also fully recyclable and will be turned back into future items by Reflo. I’m really pleased to unveil our bold, bright new kit that’s inspired by nature and helping nature - that’s pretty fabulous.”
The club’s new kit—produced in partnership with sustainable sportswear pioneers Reflo—is not only vegan, it’s recyclable, circular, and dripping in leopard print. Both the home and away shirts sport the same eye-catching pattern, a nod to the natural world that inspires much of the club’s ethos.
The home version will stay put for two seasons, a decision that cuts waste and helps ease the financial pressure on fans who might be tired of the annual kit churn.
But beneath the exotic pattern lies some serious green engineering. Powered by Reflo’s Reloop™ technology, every shirt is made from mono-fibre recycled materials and is fully recyclable at end of life. In other words, once your shirt’s had its day, it won’t be clogging up a landfill—it’ll be reborn as something new.
“This is exactly what Reflo was built for,” said Rory MacFadyen, Co-Founder of Reflo. “Partnering with Forest Green Rovers to create the world’s first fully vegan shirt, made from recycled materials with the ability to be recycled at end of life. It’s a milestone moment for us. FGR have led the way in showing football can be a force for good.”
The kit still features the familiar crest of partners: Ecotricity across the chest, DPD on the lower back, Candriam on the left sleeve, and Smyths Toys behind the shorts. Just below the collar sit the symbolic Three Stars—a quiet but unmissable reminder of Forest Green’s long-term ambition to reach the Championship.
The move has been welcomed by The Vegan Society, who’ve worked closely with the club for the past eight years. “This kit is the first in the world to be certified vegan and is the most visible demonstration yet of Forest Green Rovers’ pioneering approach to sustainability in football,” said Alex Markland, Senior Account Manager at The Vegan Society.
For a club that’s long championed change—solar panels, vegan pies, zero-carbon travel—it’s hardly surprising that Forest Green Rovers have rewritten the rulebook once again. This isn’t just a shirt; it’s a statement. And, crucially, it’s one that performs on and off the pitch.
The new kit is available now via the Forest Green Rovers online store, with more details at reflo.com. So if you’re looking to show support for your team and the planet, it might just be time to go wild. Leopard print wild.
