247 Takes Its Winter Training Kit Seriously With FW26 Drop 2

Polartec insulation and weather protection lead 247’s second FW26 release, alongside new running layers, an expanded women’s range and a more relaxed Ignite collection for the hours either side of training.

Cold weather has a rather efficient way of finding the weaknesses in training kit.

Too little insulation and the warm-up becomes an exercise in regret. Too much, and five minutes into a hard session you are carrying your own portable sauna. For its second FW26 release, 247 is concentrating heavily on that awkward middle ground: protection from winter conditions without turning performance clothing into cumbersome outerwear.

The 247 FW26 Drop 2, launching on 7 October, puts Polartec technology at the centre of the collection while extending the brand’s clothing across running, strength work, racing, recovery and everyday use.

It is a broader interpretation of performance wear than simply producing another gym range, and that becomes clearer once the collection moves beyond the headline jackets.

Polartec takes centre stage for winter

The most technically focused pieces use two established Polartec technologies for rather different jobs.

Polartec Power Shield appears in the 247 Power Shield Puffer Jacket and 247 Power Shield Pant, where the intention is to combine weather protection with stretch and breathability.

For athletes training outside through colder and less forgiving conditions, that balance matters. Protection is useful; moving around dressed like a sleeping bag with sleeves rather less so.

The 247 Alpha Hoodie and 247 Alpha Gaiter, meanwhile, use Polartec Alpha insulation. Here the emphasis shifts towards lightweight warmth and breathability, allowing insulation to respond better as exercise intensity changes.

That distinction gives the winter collection some logic. Rather than treating warmth as a single requirement, 247 is separating protection from insulation and using different fabric technologies accordingly.

Running layers keep weight down

Not every cold session requires full winter armour.

The 247 Trail Windbreaker and 247 Trail Midlayer provide lighter options for outdoor training and layering, extending the collection into the sort of conditions where flexibility matters more than maximum insulation.

The 247 Ghost Short sits at the other end of the thermometer but brings some distinctly running-specific thinking. It combines lightweight stretch fabric with an integrated brief, reflective detailing and storage for gels.

None of those features is particularly theatrical, which is rather the point. Distance running has a habit of exposing seemingly minor design mistakes several miles after it is too late to do anything about them.

The practical emphasis on layering, storage and movement suggests 247 is continuing to push beyond general-purpose gym clothing towards kit intended for more specific training environments.

Ignite loosens the performance uniform

247 REPRESENT DROP 2

Technical fabrics are only part of Drop 2.

The Ignite range provides a deliberately softer counterpart, spanning men’s and women’s pieces including hoodies, T-shirts, tanks and long-sleeve styles.

The clothes use relaxed silhouettes and the stained-wash finish that has become part of 247’s visual language, while diagonal loopback fleece features within the range.

The result is clothing positioned for the less clearly defined portion of an athlete’s day: travelling to training, recovering afterwards or simply getting on with life without looking as though a starting gun is about to go off.

That crossover has become increasingly important in performance clothing. Training wardrobes rarely begin at the first repetition and end at the final kilometre, and Ignite is 247’s attempt to make the same identity work beyond the session itself.

Women’s collection expands across training and recovery

247 REPRESENT DROP 2

Drop 2 also gives greater space to the women’s collection.

The On A Mission High Support Sports Bra and On A Mission Tight return as a coordinated training set in a new colourway, using recycled nylon and spandex in silhouettes intended to support high-intensity movement.

The women’s 247 Trail Windbreaker takes a different approach to the men’s version, using a cropped and oversized shape for outdoor training.

Ignite also crosses into the women’s range through pieces including the Ignite Hood and Ignite Cropped Long-Sleeve Tee, reinforcing the collection’s attempt to cover both active training and the quieter hours surrounding it.

That breadth is significant because 247 is not treating its women’s offering as an abbreviated copy of the men’s range. Different silhouettes sit alongside shared design language, giving the collection a more distinct identity of its own.

Numbers gets its winter colours

The established 247 Numbers range receives a seasonal update rather than a technical overhaul.

New Ember and Ash Grey colourways run across T-shirts, jerseys, vests, shorts, track bottoms and accessories, extending one of the brand’s most recognisable graphic signatures into FW26.

It gives Drop 2 three reasonably clear personalities: the technical Polartec pieces, the more relaxed Ignite line and the familiar Numbers identity.

That is a useful separation. Performance collections can quickly become an exhausting procession of fabrics, specifications and increasingly energetic adjectives. Here, the different parts of the wardrobe have recognisable jobs.

Built around changing conditions

Matt Shotton, Head of 247, describes the collection as a response to the point in the year when training conditions become harder to ignore.

“Drop Two is about taking the technical foundations we established with FW26 as we move into colder training months. Training doesn’t stop when the conditions change, so we wanted to build pieces that respond effectively without restricting how you move.

Polartec® gives us the technology to deliver that across protection and insulation, while Numbers, Ignite and the wider collection bring the identity of 247 through every part of the wardrobe. Ultimately, it’s about giving our community the freedom to move between running, strength, racing and recovery in clothing that feels unmistakably 247.”

The collection is also being taken into sporting environments rather than being confined to a lookbook. After a preview at ComplexCon on 3–4 October, 247 is scheduled to partner with RNW for a panel and hill session on 21 October, with Team 247 athletes Alfie Manthorpe and Andy Butchart wearing pieces from the new range.

The 247 FW26 Collection Drop 2 goes on sale through Represent’s 247 website on 7 October at 8pm BST.

Strip away the seasonal colours and graphic treatments and the more interesting development is straightforward: 247 is increasingly designing around the different phases of training rather than treating performance wear as one category.

In winter, when conditions tend to expose poor clothing choices with unusual efficiency, that is probably the more useful place to start.
