TAG Heuer doesn’t do subtle when it comes to motorsport, and its latest release proves it. For the second time in the history of its partnership with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, the Swiss watchmaker has unveiled a special edition timepiece designed to celebrate its on-going alliance with one of Formula 1’s most relentlessly ambitious operations.
When it comes to triumphant partnerships in motor racing, TAG Heuer and Aston Martin Red Bull Racing set the pace. Since 2016, the avant-garde luxury brand and the championship-winning team have worked side by side, sharing the same core belief: speed is a habit, not a moment.
A partnership built for the fast lane
The logic of this collaboration is simple. Both sides trade on performance under pressure—whether that pressure comes at 300 km/h into Turn 1, or in the tiny tolerances of watchmaking where a fraction of a second is the whole point. TAG Heuer’s Formula 1 line has always leaned into that energy: bold, legible, and unashamedly sporty.
Designed with the team, inspired by the 2020 car
Conceived in close collaboration with the F1 team, the 43mm special edition chronograph is youthful, sporty and easy to read in all conditions. The renewed design takes its cues from the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula 1 car presented on February 19th, 2020 in Barcelona, Spain—and it wears those influences like a set of fresh tyres.
The blue of the car appears on the dial and the aluminium fixed bezel. Then come the details that separate “generic racing watch” from “this was clearly built with a team’s identity in mind”: the chronograph seconds hand is coated in eye-catching Red Bull yellow, while touches of Red Bull red land on the tachymeter scale like warning lights.
An azurage pattern across the chronograph counters and a date window at 4 o’clock finish the job—adding texture and function without sacrificing the clean, quick-read layout that a proper sports chronograph needs.
Built like a track tool, not a trophy
Flip it over and you get the branding done the right way: the steel screw-down case is engraved with the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing team logo over a chequered pattern. Up top, the watch keeps its stance purposeful—steel case, tachymeter bezel, sapphire crystal, and a screw-down crown built for people who actually wear the thing.
TAG Heuer positions it as a “road-tested endurance machine” and backs that talk with credentials buyers understand: water resistant to 200 metres and highly shock resistant, with the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Special Edition enduring more than 60 quality control tests.
It’s presented on a robust stainless-steel bracelet and includes a driver’s extension—meaning it’s designed to fit over a racing suit, which is either extremely practical or a strong hint that this watch would like to live at full throttle.
