Science in Sport Joins Forces with Sir Chris Hoy for Inspirational ‘Tour de 4’ Cancer Ride

Sir Chris Hoy

Science in Sport – the go-to fuelling brand for everyone from elite athletes to weekend pavement pounders – is stepping up for one of its most powerful partnerships yet. This September, they’re teaming up with none other than Sir Chris Hoy as the Official Sports Nutrition Supplier for the first-ever Tour de 4.

The event, set to roll out on Sunday, 7th September 2025 from the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, is more than just another date on the endurance calendar. Born from Hoy’s own battle with Stage 4 cancer, the Tour de 4 aims to prove that a diagnosis—no matter how daunting—is not the finish line. It’s a mission to raise spirits, miles, and £1 million for cancer charities across the UK.

“We’re not just fuelling athletes here,” said Dan Lampard, Chief Operating Officer at Science in Sport. “Tour de 4 is a fantastic initiative and one that SiS is really pleased to be supporting as the Official Supplier. Sir Chris Hoy has been an SiS Ambassador since 2013, and we will always support our Ambassadors in any way which we can.”

The partnership marks a powerful next chapter in Science in Sport’s longstanding relationship with the six-time Olympic champion. It also places the brand front and centre of a nationwide movement blending athleticism, resilience, and philanthropy.

Sir Chris Hoy, never one to mince words, added: “I’m delighted to welcome SiS as an official supplier for our inaugural Tour de 4. It will be great to have their nutritional support on the day, and we are very grateful for the money they will be raising through the sale of products which will go towards our £1m fundraising goal.”

The ride itself offers four challenges tailored to different abilities—each named after a colour in true Olympic fashion. The Yellow Ride welcomes riders of all abilities to spin on static bikes inside the velodrome for up to 20 minutes.

The Green Ride is a family-friendly 1km loop, while the Blue Ride charts a more relaxed 37-mile road route. Those looking to test their mettle can tackle the Red Ride, a 56-mile challenge designed for serious cyclists.

To support the thousands expected to take part, Science in Sport will be on the ground with its signature lineup of endurance products. More notably, they’ll release limited-edition BETA Fuel Energy Gels (available in 6 or 30-packs), sold exclusively through scienceinsport.com. With 15% of proceeds going directly to cancer charities, every gel bought does more than fuel a ride—it fuels a cause.

Based in Blackburn and founded in 1992, Science in Sport has made its name through evidence-backed nutrition, supplying over 330 professional teams and institutions worldwide. Their Informed-Sport certified products are designed to support athletes before, during, and after competition, and their online hub offers expert tips on optimising performance using the SiS range.

Sir Chris Hoy’s story has long been one of pushing past limits. Now, with the support of Science in Sport and an entire peloton of like-minded participants, the Tour de 4 promises to be a defiant, empowering reminder that strength comes in many forms—and sometimes, it’s wearing lycra and riding for something bigger than itself.
