Maison Margiela and Reebok Announce Official Partnership

Maison Margiela and Reebok3

Reebok and French haute couture house Maison Margiela announce their partnership, set to span several seasons with a focus on pushing the boundaries of footwear and inspiring a collaboration devoted to expert and progressive craftsmanship.

Reebok and Maison Margiela will release their first collaborative shoe, the Tabi Instapump Fury, from September 23, with additional new styles planned for release in 2021.

The Tabi Instapump Fury first debuted on the runway at Maison Margiela’s Spring-Summer 2020 Artisanal show in Paris in January 2020 and draws on themes key from the show: a re-evaluation of the values of bourgeois dressing exercised through the codes that define it.

John Galliano uses the conscious codes and science of today in a dialogue between Reebok’s revolutionary Instapump Fury sneaker and the French fashion house’s legendary split-toed shoe. The Tabi Instapump Fury is a statement shoe for the age of the cyber-industrial revolution and builds on Maison Margiela’s analyses of the conversation between humanity and technology in the digital era.

The Tabi’s split-toed upper creates the foundation for the new shoe, which morphs with Reebok’s pump mechanism, an inflation technology originally developed one year after the Tabi in 1989.

The Tabi Instapump Fury will release in both heeled (Tabi Instapump Fury Hi) and flat (Tabi Instapump Fury Lo) versions.

The flat is reminiscent of the sole design of the Retro Fit, the sneaker launched by Maison Margiela in 2018, while the 10cm heel version is an interpretation of the Instapump Fury’s sole design.
