Deliveroo Launches ‘Score Back Scheme’ for Fans Who Miss Goals During Women’s Football

Deliveroo, the nation’s go-to for game day grub, is stepping up its play this summer with a cheeky new initiative aimed squarely at football fans who always seem to blink at the worst possible moment. Introducing the Score Back Scheme – a limited-time campaign that offers fans a tasty consolation prize for missing a goal due to life’s annoying interruptions. And yes, that includes answering the door… to a Deliveroo driver.

Launching just in time for the summer showcase of women’s football, the Deliveroo Score Back Scheme promises £30 in credit to fans who happen to miss a goal because their food arrived at the same time—or within a minute either side—of the ball hitting the back of the net. It’s the kind of silver lining that could make even the most tragic goal-missing moment feel like a tactical win.

Running from 13 to 27 July during nationally televised professional women’s matches, the promotion is simple. Place a qualifying order of £30 or more, get caught in the act of accepting your pad thai or pepperoni pizza while someone scores a worldie, and send a message to Deliveroo UK’s Instagram within 48 hours. If the timing lines up, your next takeaway’s on them.

Arabella Jenkins, spokesperson for Deliveroo, explained the move: “We know the beautiful game can throw up some truly unpredictable moments, and sometimes those moments could coincide with the arrival of your Deliveroo.

So if you’re caught off-guard by a goal while accepting your delivery of match day essentials, we’re changing the rules of the game to turn unlucky moments into a tasty win with our all-new ‘Score Back Scheme’.”

Now, let’s not pretend this is some niche issue. Deliveroo commissioned a nationwide survey that found a whopping 92% of fans have missed a goal while watching at home. The culprits? Classic British habits:

• 52% were on the loo
• 33% were scavenging in the fridge
• 27% were making a cuppa
• 21% were—ironically—at the door receiving a delivery
• And 16% were texting mates instead of watching the actual game

Even more entertaining is the sheer level of sneakiness involved in trying to cover it up. Nearly half of fans (45%) admitted to faking it—pretending they’d seen the goal just to avoid ridicule. A bold third (34%) opted for stealthy replays, most often while pretending to fetch something from the fridge, hiding in the loo, or conducting elaborate decoy tasks like “checking the car’s locked.”

Deliveroo’s Score Back Scheme is tailor-made for these everyday fans—those who get distracted, caught out, or simply need to feed the squad at half-time. With football fever gripping the nation, it’s a smart move that blends food, fandom, and a healthy dose of humour.

Score Back Scheme: The Fine Print (Because There’s Always Fine Print)

*Goal must be scored one minute before or after the order is delivered in accordance with the delivery time stated on the Deliveroo website or app.

How does it work?

• Watch any professional women’s football match broadcast on national UK TV between 13th – 27th July.
• Place a Deliveroo order of £30 or more from a local restaurant or grocer during the match (see T&Cs for eligibility).
• Deliveroo customers whose order is delivered one minute before or after a goal hits the back of the net can claim £30 in Deliveroo credit.
• Submit a claim within 48 hours after the goal is scored/Deliveroo is delivered via direct message to Deliveroo’s UK Instagram account with your order number, email address linked to the Deliveroo account, a screenshot of the order delivery confirmation, and details of the game and the team that scored.
• If the eligible order is verified, Deliveroo customers will receive a voucher of  £30 by 11th August, 2025.
• Vouchers will be valid for use on Deliveroo for a 3-month period after 11th August, 2025.

T&CS:

1. Eligibility:  Entrants must be 18+, based in the UK and have both a valid UK Deliveroo account and an Instagram account to take part.
2. Entry Period:  13th July (00:01 UK Time) and closes on 27th July (12:00 PM UK Time)
3. Qualifying Participating Orders: Entrants must place a qualifying order of £30 or above on items at any restaurant or grocer during the Entry Period, during a women’s football match of an official senior women’s competition organised by a professional sports body, excluding friendly matches and broadcast on a UK TV channel.
   1. Orders must total £30 or above on items, excluding the cost of delivery, service or other fees, donations and tips
   2. Orders that contain any 18+ restricted items (including alcohol, vapes, tobacco, CBD, baby formula, etc) are not eligible for entry, even if the total cost of non-restricted items is £30 or more.  

4. Eligible Orders: Orders must be confirmed as delivered on the Deliveroo App or Website when an official senior women’s football team scores within a window of 1 minute before and 1 minute after either team has scored (for example: if a team scores at 7:07 PM, and your order record shows that your Participating Order was delivered at 7:08 PM, this Participating Order will be eligible for a ‘Score back Scheme’ voucher ). 
5. To claim: Participants must submit their ‘Score Back’ scheme claims via direct message to the Deliveroo Instagram account (@deliveroo) within 48 hours of the goal and the time that the Deliveroo order was marked as delivered to the participant, detailing the following:

1. Their order number
2. The email address linked to their Deliveroo account, with which they placed their Eligible Order
3. The name of the team that scored
4. The date of the football match and details of the goal scored (including time, date and the team who scored) during which the Eligible Order arrived
5. A screenshot of the order delivery confirmation 

1. First 500 Participants to claim: This Promotion is limited to the first 500 Participants only; if 500 Participants make successful claims before 27th July 2025, the promotion will end early. Entrants will be notified by Deliveroo that the promotion has ended early when they attempt to claim via direct message 
2. The Prize: Will be a Deliveroo voucher credit of £30 per Eligible Order.  The Prize will be awarded to successful Participants with Eligible Orders by 11 August 2025 and can then be added by the winners to their Deliveroo account for use within 3 months.
