February On The Floor: How West Ham United Is Supporting Stand By Me Charity

West Ham United are supporting East London-based charity Stand by Me, encouraging supporters to take part in their flagship fundraiser, February on the Floor.

February on the Floor is an initiative designed to make a significant difference to the lives of children around the globe.

The charity is asking people to sacrifice their beds, for as little as one night, and get sponsored to sleep on the floor.

Funds raised will provide beds, school uniforms and breakfast for children and families in India, Kenya, Myanmar, Ethiopia, the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Romania.

Stand by Me Executive Director Ahmad Ayoubi said: “As a small, East London-based charity who care for rescued kids around the world, having the support of West Ham United for our February on the Floor event is amazing.

It’s a brilliant event where supporters young and old, individuals, groups and families can take to the floor of their homes for just a few nights, get sponsored and transform thousands of children’s lives”.

As well as promoting the event to its global fanbase, the Club is holding a February of the Floor event itself, with 30 of West Ham United’s Academy players sleeping out on the indoor training pitch at the Chadwell Heath Training Ground.

West Ham United Academy Manager Kenny Brown said: “Here at the Academy, our goal is to support the development of our young players both as footballers and people.

“We do a huge amount on and off the pitch with the young people we work with at Chadwell Heath to ensure they can make a positive impact in the community as part of the West Ham United family.

“February on the Floor is a fantastic initiative to support and improve the lives of children and young people living in difficult circumstances.

It’s also a great opportunity to get our players thinking about how life can differ for people their own age in other parts of the world.”
