The Hundred is back—and London might just burst at the seams. This August, the capital becomes a cricketing carnival once more as the turbocharged 100-ball format returns for its fifth lap around the sun, throwing global cricket stars, screaming sixes, and live music acts into two of the country’s grandest sporting coliseums—Lord’s and the Kia Oval.
Not content with merely reinventing the wheel, The Hundred continues to spin it at breakneck speed. It’s cricket, but not as your granddad knew it. This is family-friendly, bite-sized chaos: men’s and women’s matches played back-to-back, bolstered by blaring music, beat drops, and a crowd that looks more Glastonbury than MCC.

This year’s cast reads like a dream XI drafted by a mad genius: David Warner, Ellyse Perry, Jos Buttler, Hayley Matthews, and Sophie Ecclestone are just a few of the showstoppers limbering up to light up the capital. And thanks to the BBC Introducing partnership, they’ll be joined by rising UK music acts determined to outshine even the flattest deck.
The curtain lifts on 5 August with The Hundred Opener, a London Derby clash at the home of cricket. Lord’s will host a showdown between London Spirit—reigning women’s champions—and Oval Invincibles, who hoisted the men’s trophy in 2024. Add in a headline set from pop dynamo Mimi Webb, performing just weeks ahead of her new album Confessions, and you’ve got yourself a night that’ll echo long after the stumps are pulled.

Oval Invincibles star all-rounder Marizanne Kapp summed up the buzz best: “I absolutely love playing in The Hundred and for Oval Invincibles. It’s so fun to play in a competition that has so many young people and families in the crowds and it doesn’t get much bigger or better than the Kia Oval.”
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s all-time top run-scorer Kane Williamson is swapping serenity for Spirit this summer: “I can’t wait to join London Spirit and play at Lord’s this summer. I’ve seen on TV and social media the amazing crowds they get in London and I can’t wait to be part of it.”

The schedule is stacked. Through August, London Spirit and Oval Invincibles will welcome all-comers—from Northern Superchargers and Southern Brave to Birmingham Phoenix and Manchester Originals—in a month-long mission for glory. The chaos concludes with The Hundred Eliminator at the Kia Oval on 30 August, followed by the grand finale at Lord’s the next day.
And if you’re thinking of waiting to grab tickets—don’t. With matches already selling out, and prices starting at £21 for adults and just £5 for juniors (under-threes go free), this is the kind of value that makes a Sunday roast look like fine dining.
So, for anyone craving cricket with crunch, crowds with character, and music with muscle, The Hundred is serving it all up on a silver platter.
