Slim Chickens Is Giving A-Level Students Free Tenders on Results Day

A-level Results Day can produce joy, despair and several hours spent staring suspiciously at a university admissions screen.

Slim Chickens has chosen a simpler contribution to proceedings: three free chicken tenders and a dipping sauce for students collecting their results on Thursday, 13 August 2026. No grade boundary applies to the chicken.

The one-day promotion is running at participating Slim Chickens restaurants in the UK. Students need a valid promotional code entered into the Slim Chickens app and must show their own A-level results in the restaurant before claiming the three tenders and sauce. Independent hospitality trade reporting has also confirmed the promotion and its Thursday-only availability.

UCAS, meanwhile, confirms that Thursday 13 August is the official 2026 A-level Results Day, so at least nobody involved has accidentally celebrated a morning early.

How to claim the Slim Chickens Results Day offer

There are a few hoops, although mercifully none appears to involve showing your working.

Students must first obtain the promotional code from the dedicated Slim Chickens Results Day page and add it to the app. They then need to visit a participating restaurant on 13 August and present their own A-level results to claim three chicken tenders with a dipping sauce.

That word “participating” deserves attention. This is not an invitation to stride confidently into any restaurant bearing a fistful of examination certificates and demand poultry. Checking the eligible locations and terms before travelling would be the sensible move.

The giveaway is limited to Thursday 13 August, rather than stretching through the weekend or into Freshers season.

A-level Results Day 2026: the timing matters

The promotion lands on a day when students have rather more consequential matters on their minds than dipping-sauce selection.

UCAS says applicants can access their applications from 08:00 UK time on 13 August, while eligible applicants can add a Clearing choice from 13:00. Results themselves are generally collected from schools, colleges or awarding organisations rather than being displayed inside the UCAS Hub.

That makes this a clever piece of timing from Slim Chickens. Results Day naturally creates movement: students are travelling to schools and colleges, meeting friends, checking phones and, eventually, requiring lunch.

A free food offer does not need to manufacture an occasion when several hundred thousand nervous teenagers already have one occupying the diary.

Why three free tenders are doing the marketing

There is also a more deliberate commercial thought behind the giveaway.

Rather than giving students a percentage off an order, Slim Chickens is putting its signature product in their hands. Its UK menu centres heavily on hand-breaded chicken tenders and wings, while the brand also promotes its range of house sauces.

That distinction matters. A discount encourages somebody to spend slightly less money. A free sample introduces the food itself, which is rather more useful if the longer game is getting students back through the door after they disappear to university.

Tom Patrick, Marketing Director at Slim Chickens UK, puts the thinking rather plainly:

“Results Day is a massive moment. For some people it’s a day of celebration, for others it might not quite go to plan – but either way, we think everyone deserves some free chicken.

“This is our biggest targeted student campaign to date, and rather than lead with a discount, we wanted to put the product we’re most famous for directly into students’ hands.

“Our tenders are the hero of Slim Chickens – freshly hand-breaded, and cooked to order – so giving away three of them with one of our signature dipping sauces felt like the perfect introduction to the brand.

“We want Slim Chickens to be part of those big student moments, from Results Day and Freshers through to the late-night food runs and everything in between. Hopefully, for thousands of students, that relationship starts with three free tenders on 13 August.”

The company describes the promotion as its biggest targeted student campaign so far, a claim also reported by hospitality industry title Propel.

Slim Chickens makes a play for student loyalty

The interesting part is not really the cost of three tenders. It is the attempt to arrive at the beginning of a customer’s student life rather than halfway through it.

Results Day leads neatly towards Freshers, term-time takeaway orders, exam-season eating and the peculiar university tradition of deciding that 11.37 pm constitutes a perfectly respectable dinner hour. Slim Chickens is plainly interested in more than a single Thursday’s footfall.

Patrick’s comments make that ambition explicit: the company wants the relationship to extend from Results Day into Freshers and later student occasions.

From a marketing perspective, giving away the recognisable core product rather than attaching a modest saving to a larger purchase is the stronger introduction. Students get something tangible without having to spend first; Slim Chickens gets its tenders in front of an audience it hopes will remember them once the term begins.

There are worse courtship rituals.

Before you head to a restaurant

The important details are refreshingly short.

The Slim Chickens free tenders offer runs only on Thursday 13 August 2026 at participating UK restaurants. Students need to obtain the Results Day code, enter it into the app and show their own A-level results at the restaurant. The reward is three chicken tenders and one dipping sauce.

Checking the dedicated Results Day page for participating branches and the full terms before setting off is advisable, particularly because the promotion is available for one day rather than across the wider Results Day period.

For students, there will be bigger decisions to make on Thursday. University places may be confirmed. Clearing may beckon. Plans carefully constructed over months may change before breakfast.

At least lunch has considerably fewer variables.

Results may shape the next few years. Three free tenders only need to improve the next few minutes.
