The Ireland Pre-Game Jersey has landed — and it’s got more Chicago swagger than a River dyed green on St. Patrick’s Day. Canterbury of New Zealand has unveiled a special-edition shirt ahead of Ireland’s much-anticipated fixture against the All Blacks at Soldier Field on November 1, and it’s as much a celebration of Irish pride as it is a salute to the Windy City.
For half a century, the Chicago River has been turned emerald on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day — a spectacle of Irish spirit that’s become part of the city’s heartbeat.
This new Ireland Pre-Game Jersey channels that same energy: a bold, modern design drenched in vibrant green, symbolising both the city’s passion and Ireland’s enduring rugby heritage.
Canterbury’s latest creation isn’t just for show either. The Pre-Game range comes in three styles tailored for every fan and physique. The Test Jersey — a performance cut worn by the pros — features Canterbury’s VapoDri technology to keep players cool and dry under pressure.
The Pro Jersey offers a slightly looser fit with the same high-spec tech, while the Junior Jersey brings the same style and pride to younger fans.
Andrew Porter, Ireland and British & Irish Lions prop, was quick to praise the design: “Once again, Canterbury has created a jersey that will not only perform on the pitch but will also look fantastic off it. The special design on this shirt, reflecting the iconic dyed Chicago River, is a great way to celebrate Ireland’s match against New Zealand in Chicago.”
And he’s right — this isn’t your average replica top. It’s a collector’s piece, made for one of the great modern rugby occasions. Simon Rowe, SVP of Canterbury of New Zealand, summed it up nicely: “Following the incredible response to Ireland’s 2025/26 jersey that launched last month, we wanted to do something truly special for fans.

Intersport Elverys, Ireland’s official retail partner for the IRFU kit, is gearing up for a rush. Buying Director Philip Staunton noted:

The IRFU’s Billy Murphy echoed that sentiment, calling it a shirt for every supporter — whether they’re cheering in Soldier Field or shouting at the telly back home: “Canterbury has designed this unique jersey for ‘The Rematch’ at Soldier Field which Irish supporters, attending or supporting from around the globe, can wear with pride.”
