Hue Wonderverse Fest arrives in Hue from 30 August to 1 September 2026 with the sort of ambition that tends to make hotel rooms disappear rather faster than good intentions at a minibar.
The three-day event will combine music, art, interactive media and laser performances, with organisers expecting more than half a million visitors.
For travellers who want the spectacle without sleeping inside it, Azerai La Residence, Hue offers a persuasive alternative: a 1930s Art Deco hotel on the Perfume River, about a 15-minute walk from the festival.
A festival with half a million reasons to plan ahead
Hue is not short of cultural credentials. As Vietnam’s former imperial capital, it has long traded on history, food and architectural character rather than the louder charms of a conventional party city. Wonderverse adds a different register.

Azerai La Residence is built around a 1930 colonial mansion that once formed part of the French Resident Supérieur’s residence. Its long horizontal lines, nautical details and streamline moderne façade give it a distinct visual identity; this is not a hotel that needed somebody to invent a “design story” after the decorators left.

Bún bò Huế, lotus tea and the city on the plate
A luxury stay in Hue becomes much more interesting once it stops being merely about thread count. The city has a culinary identity of its own, and Azerai has been leaning into two distinctly local traditions: bún bò Huế and lotus tea.
Executive Chef Nguyen Dong Hai recently took part in a record-setting bún bò Huế event under the “Hue – The Capital of Gastronomy” programme, where more than 300 diners gathered to eat the city’s signature noodle soup. His own interpretation is also served at Le Parfum, the hotel’s signature restaurant.

It is the sort of dish that earns its place in a travel itinerary because it belongs there, not because someone decided guests needed a themed dinner.
The hotel’s seasonal Lotus Afternoon Tea takes a gentler approach. Priced at VND 360,000++ for two, it pairs Imperial Hue Lotus Tea with pastries in the hotel’s Art Deco surroundings.
“The Lotus Afternoon Tea invites guests to pause and savour the gentle beauty of Hue’s summer along the Perfume River,” Minh said. “It is a simple yet memorable way to connect with the season’s grace.”
Against a festival built around sensory overload, tea and pastry may sound almost defiantly civilised. That is rather the point.
