As part of the renovation, the current gym equipment was upgraded with a wide range of new cardio and strength training equipment from premium fitness equipment supplier, Life Fitness.

New Treadmills, Cross Trainers, Bikes and PowerMill Climbers have been added to the gym’s cardio area. The new equipment also features premium SE3 HD consoles, giving users access to on-demand workouts, entertainment options, and smartphone connectivity.

The strength training area has also been upgraded with Life Fitness’ premium fixed-resistance Insignia Series equipment, adjustable cable pulleys, and a range of free weights, as well as adjustable benches, half-racks with built-in lifting platforms, and dumbbells up to 40kg.

In addition, the gym has undergone a complete transformation with a full redecoration, new flooring and upgraded LED lighting.

The gym is just the latest in a number of upgrades at Towcester Centre for Leisure; in 2021, a new yoga studio was built, and the existing gym was extended to include a new functional training area. Changing and shower facilities were also refurbished.

Commenting on the gym refurbishment, Glen Hall, managing director of Parkwood Leisure, said: “Towcester Centre for Leisure is a fantastic facility that plays an important role in keeping its community healthy and active, and we’re proud to be able to improve visitors’ experiences even further following the recent investment in the gym.

“These further improvements are testament to our commitment, in partnership with West Northamptonshire Council, to provide the very best service and facilities for the local community.”

Towcester Centre for Leisure is located on the outskirts of the historic town and boasts a 25m competition pool, wave pool, flume, gym, indoor cycling studio, fitness studio with 60+ classes a week, sports hall, and a newly refurbished 3G pitch. The gym at the centre was officially re-opened by Town Mayor, Cllr Martin Johns, on Saturday 1st April.
