The David Lloyd 24-hour Sportathon in aid of New Life Special Care Babies was a popular event before lockdown and it is back!

From 10 am on Saturday 14th May to 12 noon on Sunday 15th May, the Newbury club is asking as many local families to get involved to raise as much money for premature babies.

Over the 24 hours, there will be an enormous range of activities to join or take part in, from 24-hour tennis, Spinathon, Squashathon, Super Sprint Triathlon and a host of kids activities.

Each event must be booked in advance on one of the event booking days held at David Lloyd: Friday 25th March, Saturday 26th March, Friday 8th April or Saturday 9th April between 9 am and 12 noon.

During the weekend of 14th/15th May, there will also be a cake stall, tombola, arcade games and a Partyathon. An auction will also be held on Saturday evening at 1900 and will be hosted by a surprise celebrity guest. The event finishes on Sunday 15th May when a BBQ and award ceremony will be held.

‘I am delighted this event is taking place again’ said CEO Trevor Goodall. ‘There really is something for everyone and it is a great way of bringing the community together.

You don’t have to be a David Lloyd member to join in, which means families and friends can make a weekend of it, have fun and help us raise as much money as possible for premature and very sick babies.

The charity is now setting its sights on its second £1million and events like this really help us to kickstart another year of fundraising.’

Leigh Johnson, Club Manager said ‘we are very proud at David Lloyd Newbury to host the 24 Hour Sportathon for a very special charity.

This is the third time we have run this event and it’s great to get the members and the community involved. Over the 24 hours, there will be something for everyone to participate in and it will be so much fun.’

There is no charge for entering an event but donations will be welcome at the time of booking.

The charity is also asking for raffle and auction prizes and for anyone that can help at the event over the May weekend to contact Trevor at trevor@newlifebabies.org.uk
