London at Christmas can be a beautiful madhouse — lights blazing, wallets trembling, taxis disappearing into thin air. Montcalm Mayfair, newly reopened and sitting just off Park Lane, is pitching itself as the antidote: a five-star winter retreat wrapped in Georgian heritage, botanical-inspired design, and the sort of calm that feels almost suspicious this close to Oxford Street.
The hotel will remain open throughout the Christmas period, including Christmas Day, giving visitors (and Londoners who fancy pretending they’re visitors) a base in the thick of the season’s best bits — shopping, theatre, skating, markets — without having to live in the chaos full time.
A fresh take on festive dining at Lilli by Akira Back

If your idea of a festive meal involves more than turkey, gravy and regret, Lilli by Akira Back is where Montcalm Mayfair makes its loudest case. The restaurant’s December Festive Menu runs daily all month — yes, including Christmas Day — and it’s built around British classics nudged, flipped and sharpened with bright Asian influences.
Starters lean into the theatre: Tuna Pizza with umami aioli and white truffle oil, Yellowtail Serrano with yuzu soy, and Mini Wagyu Tacos in crisp wonton shells. Mains don’t do subtle either: Turkey Wellington with potato purée and cranberry teriyaki, Miso Black Cod caramelised in den miso, and Lamb Cutlets glazed in anticucho sauce. Desserts finish the job with a Chocolate Tart and hazelnut ganache, or a flambéed Baked Alaska.
Pricing is straightforward: two courses for £65 or three for £90, served every day throughout December.
Afternoon tea, theatre dining and family-friendly touches
The festive programme isn’t just about dinner. The hotel also hosts the recently launched Into the Garden Afternoon Tea, a botanical-inspired riff on a British institution, shaped by the creative legacy of Constance Spry.
Families visiting over the holidays get their own lane too, with a children’s menu designed around “playful sweet treats and miniature savoury favourites.” And if you’re heading into town for a show, the Theatre Menu runs from 5:30 pm–7:00 pm, making Montcalm Mayfair a handy starting point before the West End does what it does best.
Private festive events: ballroom glamour to library cocktails
For anyone planning a proper end-of-year get-together — colleagues, clients, friends, family — Montcalm Mayfair is leaning into private events with a set of spaces that cover the spectrum from black-tie grandeur to low-key cocktails.

At the heart of London’s festive scene
Location is the point — and Montcalm Mayfair is trading heavily on it. Step outside and you’re near Mayfair’s blue Christmas lights, with Oxford Street’s displays close enough to feel the pull without needing to sleep under them. Liberty London and Fortnum & Mason are within easy reach for heritage gift-hunting, while Somerset House ice skating and a run of Christmas markets and cultural events across Belgravia, Soho and the West End sit a short walk or ride away.
In other words: you can do London Christmas properly — then retreat somewhere that remembers silence is still a luxury.
