The RunThrough Foundation 10k is lacing up for its return to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday 3rd August 2025 — and here’s the kicker: it’s absolutely free.
Yes, you read that right. A 10k run through one of London’s most iconic venues, without coughing up a penny. Miracles still happen, folks.
This isn’t your average jog around the block. The RunThrough Foundation, the charitable arm of one of the UK’s most popular running event organisers, has its sights set on a bigger finish line: breaking down the barriers that stop people from running in the first place.
Whether that’s financial hurdles, cultural hang-ups, or simply the gut-churning feeling of not seeing anyone who looks like you at the start line — this 10k wants to put those excuses on the bench.
“For too long, running has felt off-limits to so many people — whether it’s cost, culture, confidence, or just not seeing anyone like them at the start line,” says Matt Woods, Co-founder of The RunThrough.
“We’re hoping this event can break down some of those barriers, and encourage people to dig out their running shoes and give it a go.”
You won’t be elbowing through a mob to get a place either — fairness is the name of the game. Entry to the RunThrough Foundation 10k is via ballot, with multiple waves planned to ensure a good mix of runners — from nervous first-timers to seasoned plodders who know their splits better than their spouse’s birthday.
And what a setting. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park isn’t just hallowed ground, it’s a cathedral of sporting drama. From Mo Farah’s roar to Usain Bolt’s blur, the place is soaked in the kind of history that makes your legs tingle — or that might just be lactic acid, who’s to say?
Entries close on July 14th, with a final reallocation wave dropping on July 18th, so get your name in before your neighbour beats you to it. Whether you’re chasing a PB or just chasing some joy, this is your ticket to be part of something a little bit bigger.

Now go on. Dust off the trainers, take a deep breath and remember: it’s just one foot in front of the other. Repeat as needed.
