Recent polling carried out by Whittard of Chelsea across their Instagram channel has revealed that 55% of consumers are tired and pushing through this month, and 21% are totally burnt out.
However, the magic remedy for getting them through this blue month is as simple as a good cup of tea. 45% of consumers stated that regular tea breaks are what most helps them get through the working day when they’re feeling burnt out.
This is in comparison to a much smaller 22% who look to regular walks outside to get them through, 19% who enjoy conversation with co-workers and just 13% who opt for a lunchtime nap.
But what tea really kicks us into action? An astounding 63% of consumers kick off their day best with an English breakfast tea, proving that old habits die hard despite the growing popularity of teas such as peppermint and green in recent years, both of which only had 12% of consumers hearts.
However, when it comes to the all-important winding down after a long day, peppermint reigns with 34% of consumers opting for it, closely followed by 33% opting for camomile.
Tea really is the ultimate comfort and to no surprise, calmness is the top emotion felt among consumers when having a cup, with 66% stating this.
So this January, when moods are blue and energy levels are low, stocking the tea cupboards is our top tip, with 72% of consumers stating that drinking tea helps to counter negative emotions around January burnout.
