Popular audio fitness app, Auro, announces its sponsorship of the Virtual Winter Run 2021.
Named as the Official Training Partner for the Winter Run 2021 which raises money for Cancer Research UK, the app will offer official training plans for all participants which are tailored for individual ability levels to help get every runner prepared and ready as well as the first of its kind adaptive VR run with immersive audio that is tailored to every individual runner.
Participants can get a 30-day free trial instead of the usual 14 days by using code RACE30 at checkout. Find out more about Auro’s participation on their website.
The virtual event will take place on Sunday 7th February 2021 with runners of all ages and abilities encouraged to complete 10k in their local area, with the aim of raising £250,000 to help fund Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research.
Entry is free and it is possible to sign up as a runner or to donate on the Virtual Winter Run website.
The Auro training programme is available to start on 5th January 2021 from the app and is available for both Android and iOS devices.
As the Official Training Partner, Auro will be offering the official training plans for all the participants in the run.
The training plan will be tailored to the participant’s fitness levels whether beginner, intermediate or advanced and will stretch over five weeks, leaving plenty of time for participants to get ready for their event.
The three bespoke plans (beginner, intermediate and advanced) will each be a structured multi-week plan, to help increase user’s stamina, endurance and speed.
All of the plans will combine outdoor runs, strength, mobility, yoga and stretching classes to help an individual build themselves into a stronger and more empowered runner.
In addition to the training plan, Auro will also be providing virtual audio runs for participants on event day to make it even more exciting and motivating if it isn’t possible to be in London physically.
This will be the first of its kind adaptive VR-driven immersive run, where the participants will be able to hear the sounds of the crowds cheering, clapping, drums and bells thus recreating the effect of actually running along the traditional London Winter Run route.
In addition, they can run with the guidance and motivation of a coach including milestones, tips for form and technique and motivation.
This is all personalised to each individual runner, so it will feel as if they are running with a coach all the time.
Participants will also be able to pair the Auro app with over 20+ devices, including Myzone, Polar and Garmin heart rate monitors as well as all Apple Watch models.
By pairing a device, they are able to track their real-time metrics including heart rate, calories and heart rate training zones.
If users don’t have a compatible device, Auro can still track speed, distance, elevation and route all from within the app.
Before the run, Auro will also be running Facebook and Instagram Live sessions to address any questions that participants may have regarding their preparation and training.
CEO and Co-Founder of Auro, Anantharaman Pattabiraman, said: “We’re marrying two major components of technology here: virtual reality in audio and AI-based hyper-personalisation.
The former is where the user feels they are indeed participating in a real run driven by milestone-based data. The latter is where the content automatically changes itself to adapt to the user’s pace/level to deliver them a feeling of running alongside a personal coach.”
Nick Rusling, CEO of organisers Human Race, is excited by the opportunities a digital edition offers:
“We’re thrilled to have Auro onboard as the training partner of the Virtual Winter Run. Their innovative training product is an ideal partner for our ambitious virtual challenge.
Every year we have to turn away thousands of runners who want to join in the London Winter Run because we are limited by our capacity. This time we are opening up the start line to everybody, whatever their background or ability.
We very much hope to be giving out a record number of virtual runners, especially those who might otherwise have been inactive during a very tough time for us all, and to continue to support Cancer Research UK.”
Auro offers a free 14-day trial for users to see for themselves how the app works. After this trial, the monthly costs based on length of subscription are:
12 Months – £59.99 (Equivalent to £4.99 per month)
1 Month. £11.99/month billed monthly
