Third Space, the leading luxury fitness and health group, is set to extend its presence in residential areas of London with the announcement of a new club in Clapham Junction.

This expansion follows the upcoming opening of Third Space Wimbledon later this year, as well as the planned launches of Battersea and Wood Wharf in early 2024.

With the addition of Third Space Clapham, the brand will reach an impressive milestone of 12 club openings, providing 28,000 sq ft of exquisite workout and recovery space.

This move aligns with Third Space’s strategic vision to establish a network of clubs in both city centre and suburban areas.

Throughout 2022, Third Space experienced substantial growth, witnessing a surge in member visits across its portfolio. The brand’s continuous success, fueled by a series of club announcements, led to revenues surpassing £50 million in 2022, with a projected forecast of £70 million for 2023.

Renowned for their distinctive design, each of Third Space’s luxury health clubs boasts a unique style inspired by their respective buildings.

The upcoming Third Space Clapham will preserve the charm of the Arding and Hobbs building from the 1920s while incorporating modern elements and materials, such as metal, stone, and wood, synonymous with the brand’s contemporary aesthetic.

RHE, the esteemed architects responsible for the City, Moorgate, and Battersea sites, have meticulously designed the gym, ensuring it complements the industrial ambience for which Third Space is known.

Located at the junction of Lavender Hill and St John’s Road in Clapham, the renovated grade II listed building will house state-of-the-art equipment and cutting-edge technology for Third Space members.

The club will feature five studios, offering award-winning classes like Reformer Pilates, Hot Yoga, and a signature high-intensity studio with immersive light and sound.

Additionally, a cycle studio boasting recording studio-level acoustics, a track and rig area with functional training equipment, and a range of strength and cardio machines will be available.

Recognizing the growing demand for recovery areas, Third Space Clapham will include a wet spa equipped with a sunken massage jet hydro-pool, cold plunge pool, steam room, and Himalayan sea salt walled sauna. These facilities are expected to become a favoured destination for post-workout rejuvenation.

Colin Waggett, CEO of Third Space, expresses his excitement regarding the expansion: “We’re thrilled to announce the opening of Third Space Clapham, introducing our brand to a new area in London within a remarkable grade II listed building.

We aim to redefine gym experiences and design aesthetics by pushing boundaries and delivering a luxurious environment equipped with top-notch training and recovery facilities.

This milestone signifies another exciting chapter in our journey. As our clubs continue to thrive, we anticipate sustained growth throughout 2023.

We are delighted to reaffirm our commitment to our strategy and support our members on their fitness journeys, whether they are at home or in the office.”

To enhance members’ convenience, Third Space Clapham will offer Natural Fitness food, providing freshly made meals, shakes, and drinks. Specialized in-house nutritionists will curate the menu to ensure it aligns with members’ fitness goals.

Chris Bonner, Head of Asset Management at W.RE, shares his enthusiasm for the venture: “Arding and Hobbs is an exceptional building with a promising future.

The commitment of Third Space to establish a premier health and wellbeing club within Arding & Hobbs serves as a testament to its significance as a valuable amenity for future users of the building and the local Clapham Junction community alike.”
