When it comes to lasting health, balance is everything — and according to nutritionist and formulator of WelleCo’s The Super Elixir™, Dr Simone Laubscher, the secret lies in mastering the seven pillars of wellness. Each one, she says, forms a cornerstone of a stronger immune system and a healthier, more resilient body.
“They need to be reviewed in order to remove your toxic load, rebuild your health, and move you into restored health and wellness,” explains Dr Laubscher, who has spent over two decades helping clients regain vitality through science-backed nutrition and lifestyle medicine.

Founder of Rejuv Wellness and a BSc MSc PhD in Science, Nutrition and Toxicology, Dr Laubscher has made it her life’s work to simplify the complex — and the seven pillars of wellness are her roadmap to doing just that.
1. Sleep – The Foundation of Recovery
Poor sleep doesn’t just make you cranky; it compromises your immune system. “Poor quality or a limited amount of sleep on a regular basis is linked to poor immune function,” says Laubscher.
A few late nights here and there won’t destroy your defences, but long-term sleep deprivation is like running your immune system on fumes. Getting consistent, restorative rest is the first non-negotiable pillar.
2. Movement – Train Smart, Not Hard
Exercise is vital — but it’s not a punishment. “Regular movement and exercise are not only great for your heart, but they’re great for your immune system too,” she says. The key is balance. Overtraining can be just as damaging as inactivity, as it generates oxidative stress and inflammation. Move daily, but don’t break yourself doing it.
3. Environment – The Invisible Influence
“The air we breathe, the water we drink, our personal hygiene, the quality of our food, WIFI and chemicals we may be putting on our skin due to non-organic skincare… all such toxins have a huge impact on our immune system,” Laubscher warns.
Modern life exposes us to more environmental toxins than ever before, making clean air, clean water, and mindful choices a powerful third pillar of wellness.
4. Nutrition – Food as Medicine
“Our bodies need whole-food nutrition and clean water, married in with herbs, spices and herbal teas,” Laubscher advises. The fourth pillar is all about nourishment — not deprivation. She recommends starting small: “WelleCo’s Sleep Welle Calming Tea is a great place to start, with the effects of hops, valerian, lemon balm, passionflower and skullcap united to help calm and relax.” Using food as medicine gives your 11 body systems — especially your immune system — what they need to function as designed.
5. Mindfulness – Calm the Storm Within
Fear and stress are immune killers. “Fear and stress tend to shut the immune system down, and the body goes into fight or flight mode,” says Laubscher. “This primal reaction is great if you do indeed have a tiger in front of you, but it’s not so great if it’s emotional stress like most people are experiencing at the moment.”
Her prescription? “Gift yourself five or ten minutes every morning just to be still, to set the intention of your day.” Mindfulness doesn’t require incense or a retreat — just consistency and compassion.
6. Body Balance – The Architecture of Health
“Our skeletal and muscular systems are pivotal to our health. Like the scaffolding of a house, they need to be built on rock, and not sand, to weather the storms of life,” she says. Poor posture and misalignment can crowd organs, limit breathing, and sap energy.
“Regular visits to specialists such as osteopaths, physical therapists, and reflexologists can help ensure that your skeletal system is strong,” Laubscher adds.
For extra support, she suggests WelleCo’s Super Booster Bone Strength and Joint Health, formulated to enhance joint flexibility and calcium absorption.
7. Supplementation – The Modern Necessity
“Over-farming has decreased the nutritional value of the food that we eat,” explains Laubscher. Once upon a time, soil was rested and rotated to replenish its nutrients — not anymore. “Supplementation gives you the nutritional support that you might be missing.”
Her flagship formula, The Super Elixir™, blends over 45 naturally derived ingredients — wholefoods, herbal extracts, vitamins, minerals, and probiotics — “that nourish the body right down at a cellular level.”
Dr Simone Laubscher doesn’t sugar-coat it: true wellness is a daily practice, not a quick fix. “They need to be reviewed in order to remove your toxic load, rebuild your health, and move you into restored health and wellness,” she reminds.
Having helped shape WelleCo’s product line alongside founder Elle Macpherson since 2014, Laubscher continues to bridge science and lifestyle to make the seven pillars of wellness something anyone can build on.
