New York City has more than 1,900 parks, playgrounds and recreation facilities across the five boroughs.

Within these spaces lie basketball and tennis courts, soccer pitches, skate parks and play spaces. All are designed to serve the city’s robust population of athletes.

“Nike has had a presence in New York City for more than 40 years, including years of partnership with NYC Parks to increase access to sport throughout the city,” says Erica Bullard VP/GM Nike NYC & East.

“We know the very important role of city parks as a place for sport and play for all New Yorkers. We look forward to continuing this work to provide more access and experiences for the next generation of city athletes.”

Part of continuing the work is a new official partnership with the city of New York, the first of its kind for the brand in North America, to produce product and create experiences that align to important sport and community moments in the city.

“For more than five years, NYC Parks and Nike have worked together to benefit New Yorkers across the city — from the Bronx to Staten Island — by investing in parks and programming that connect communities through sport,” says NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP.

“The new product collaboration between our iconic brands celebrates this long partnership by showcasing the real people who care for our parks every day in order for all of us to have access to world class parks.”

The AF1 – ALL FOR 1 – NYC is inspired by parks across the city and those who nurture community through open and play spaces. It pays homage to many of the spaces that Nike has supported.

These spaces include the iconic Rucker and Gersh Park Basketball Courts, the Sara D. Roosevelt Kaws Court and Flushing Meadow Corona Park soccer field. It also stretches to skate parks at Coleman Oval and McCarren Park, and Tanahey Field and Court on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

The abundance of amenities in NYC Parks reflect in the park-themed outsole (produced with Nike Grind), chain link mesh panels, 3M high-visibility accents and interchangeable Velcro patches.

The associated 12-piece apparel collection includes a cotton crew T-shirt featuring the NYC Parks logo on the left chest paired with a Nike swoosh brand on the right, NYC Parks sport icons centred on the back and signed off with a woven jock tag label.

A winterised club fleece half-zip top and jogger pant, which features all-over printed polar fleece highlighted by a reflective and embroidered NYC Parks logo and Nike swoosh, is also included.

The AF1 – ALL FOR 1 – NYC and NYC Parks apparel collection releases December 5 at Nike NYC, Nike Soho, Foot Locker Washington Heights, select local retailers and on nike.com. The AF1 will also release on SNKRS in North America.
