Clemency Lion Joins Marianne Boyle And Jules Booker

ukactive, the leading not-for-profit organization promoting physical activity and well-being, announces the addition of three new members to its executive team. Clemency Lion (formerly Huggins), Marianne Boyle, and Jules Booker have joined the organization, bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise.

Clemency Lion has been appointed as the new Director of Research, Policy, and Communications, succeeding Jack Shakespeare, who served in the role for six years before moving on to join ukactive partner, 4Global.

Prior to joining UKActive, Clemency worked as a Special Advisor in the government and served as a Chief of Staff in Parliament. With a strong background in policy, public affairs, and strategic communications, she has successfully led campaigns across various sectors.

Commenting on her appointment, Clemency expressed her enthusiasm for utilizing her government and parliamentary experience to drive UKActive’s policy goals and deliver results for its members and the wider sector.

She also emphasized her commitment to staying attuned to the pulse of political and societal uncertainty, providing strategic guidance to the organization.

Marianne Boyle has been promoted to the position of Director of Membership and Sector Development. Having spent three years as the Head of Partnerships and Strategic Lead for Infrastructure, Marianne’s promotion is a testament to her exceptional contributions.

With over 15 years of experience in the fitness and leisure sector, including senior management roles in public health, leisure services, and higher education, Marianne brings extensive knowledge and expertise to her new role.

She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Member Services and Sector Development department, acknowledging the vital role that ukactive members play in contributing to the nation’s health.

Marianne pledged to keep members at the heart of the organization’s decisions and support the sector’s growth by providing outstanding member experiences, impactful events, and expertise in various areas, such as health, inclusion, digitalization, and policy.

Jules Booker, a Chartered Certified Accountant, has been an integral part of ukactive since 2019 when she joined as the Head of Finance.

After leading successful finance transformation projects, Jules was promoted to Finance Director in 2022 and has now taken on the role of Director of Business Operations.

With her background in non-profit and charity sectors, Jules has made significant contributions to the organizational business plan and strategy.

Her focus on driving operational improvements and developing efficient systems and processes aligns with ukactive’s strategic priorities.

Jules emphasized her commitment to providing high-quality services to members and creating a great working environment for colleagues.

Huw Edwards, the CEO of ukactive, expressed his delight in welcoming Clemency, Marianne, and Jules to the executive team.
