The Royal Parks Half Marathon has announced today that London Marathon Events will be the new delivery partner of the event following a competitive tender process.
The new five-year partnership will cover the 2023 to 2027 Royal Parks Half Marathons.
The Royal Parks Half is a remarkable race, giving people the opportunity to run through four of London’s eight Royal Parks, including Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park, and Kensington Gardens.
The race also takes runners past London’s most iconic landmarks, such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, and the Houses of Parliament.
Since the race began in 2008, nearly £60million has been raised for over 1,200 UK charities. The new partnership with London Marathon Events will ensure that organisations big and small will continue to benefit from the fundraising efforts of dedicated runners.
Elsewhere the Royal Parks Half prides itself on its sustainable approach, which has seen the race implement a number of different initiatives, including the removal of plastic water bottles from the course.
This year’s race also saw the launch of the event’s first-ever Plant-Based Food Village, created to encourage visitors to consider sustainable food choices.
Liz Tack, Head of the Royal Parks Half Marathon said:
“The Royal Parks Half Marathon is thrilled to partner with London Marathon Events (LME) in this exciting new chapter for the world’s most stunning half marathon.
As an iconic London race, we’re excited to work with the team responsible for delivering other major events in the capital. Together we’ll continue to champion sustainability, inclusivity, charity fundraising and wellbeing.
Hugh Brasher, Event Director LME commented:
“London Marathon Events is delighted to be the new delivery partner for The Royal Parks Half Marathon. We share a mutual ambition with The Royal Parks to lead the way on event sustainability, charity fundraising and providing an unparalleled experience for the participants, supporters, sponsors and charities.
The work done over the last 15 years to make this event so special has been wonderful and we look forward to helping take the event to the next level.”
The Royal Parks Half is also launching a fresh look for the 2023 race across its social media channels and website, supporting work towards this iconic race being the greenest mass participation event in the UK.
