British workers are racking up an astonishing 224 million “Gym Bag Miles” each week, equivalent to a round trip to the moon, without ever making it to the gym.
Research reveals that on average, Brits leave their homes thrice a week with every intention of fitting in a workout either at lunchtime or after work.
However, a myriad of excuses results in many never stepping foot in the gym at all.
The top excuses for neglecting their gym bags include:
- Being too tired or stressed after work (34.9%)
- Running late at work (31.9%)
- Being easily talked into going to the pub (16.3%)
- It being too dark to do anything but go home and watch TV (8.1%)
This habitual gym bag hauling translates to an average of 16 miles carried to and from work without opening them each day. Collectively, Brits accumulate a staggering 224 million gym bag miles each week. Londoners top the list, clocking in the most gym bag miles with an average of 20 miles a day.
Finding time to go to the gym is a daily struggle for people all over the country. An effective workout doesn’t need to consist of hours and hours in the gym. A brilliant class timetable can encourage people to make the best use of their time.
High-intensity workout classes such as GRID and IronZUU, which last at least 30 minutes, provide a robust workout in a short span. For those really pressed for time, there are even speedy workout sessions at just 20 minutes.
By optimizing their workout schedules and making the most out of shorter, high-intensity classes, Brits can turn those gym bag miles into actual fitness progress.
