Apple Fitness+ Just Got Even More Social—Now You Can Work Out With Friends via FaceTime

apple fitness 1

Apple Fitness+ is taking things up a notch with SharePlay, a brand-new feature that lets you work out or meditate with up to 32 friends over FaceTime. Whether you’re smashing a HIIT session, easing into yoga, or just needing a bit of extra motivation, you can now sweat it out together—virtually.

And that’s not all. From November 3, Apple’s subscription-based fitness platform will expand to 15 new countries, making its top-tier workouts and meditations available in a total of 21 locations worldwide.

Oh, and if you’re a UnitedHealthcare member in the US? You might be eligible for a free year-long subscription to Fitness+, thanks to a new partnership rolling out from November 1.

Work Out or Meditate With Friends—Wherever They Are

We all know that working out with others can make us push that little bit harder. Enter SharePlay, which lets Fitness+ subscribers start a group workout or meditation session with mates over FaceTime.

Here’s how it works:

  • Hop on a FaceTime call on your iPhone or iPad.
  • Open the Fitness app, pick a workout, and hit play.
  • Everyone’s video will stay on-screen, so you can see each other’s progress (and reactions).
  • Feeling competitive? The Burn Bar and Activity Rings will update in real-time, letting everyone know when someone’s smashing it.

If you’d rather work out on the big screen, you can also stream your session to Apple TV, keeping FaceTime going on your phone or tablet.
