Hexagon Cup, the brand new padel tournament set to transform the sport of 20 x 10, announces that Slazenger Padel is named Official Ball Supplier for the event, which will take place in Madrid in February 2024.
Slazenger was founded by brothers, Ralph and Albert Slazenger in 1881 and quickly became the leading manufacturer of sporting equipment for golf and tennis.
From the late 1800’S onwards, Slazenger products have been the choice of many superstars in various sports around the world, stars such as Björn Borg, Jimmy Connors and Seve Ballesteros representing the brand.
In 1902, Slazenger was appointed the official tennis ball supplier to the Championships at Wimbledon, and it remains the longest, unbroken sporting sponsorship in history.
“We are delighted to welcome Slazenger Padel on board as Hexagon Cup’s Official Ball Supplier, we have tested the ball and the durability and performance is the best we can find,” says Enrique Buenaventura, founder and member of the Hexagon Cup Advisory Board.
“We are a brand new tournament and are excited about the impact we can have in growing the sport, but we are also fully committed to respecting the traditions of padel, so we are thrilled to be joined by one of the most iconic and well-respected brands in racquet sport.”
“Being named the official ball for the upcoming Hexagon Cup is a tremendous honour for Slazenger Padel. This marks a key investment in establishing our ball as the top ball for padel players, ” says Niclas Rodin, CEO of Slazenger AB.
Slazenger Padel started in 2020, with its ball collection bearing the name of one of the most emblematic tennis rackets ever made, Slazenger Challenge No.1.
Although the brand is just establishing itself officially on the padel market, Slazenger was one of the first brands to produce padel rackets.
It has been around since padel was played with wooden rackets, however, for many years and particularly during the last years of rapid growth of the sport, players have been wishing for the brand to officially enter the world of padel.
Padel is the world’s fastest-growing global sport, with conversations increasingly moving towards it becoming a future Olympic sport.
The Hexagon Cup has gained widespread acclaim for its innovative and equality-based team format, top-tier padel players, and celebrity teams including the prestigious names of; the Rafa Nadal Academy powered by Richard Mille team; RL9 by the Barcelona FC footballer Robert Lewandowski; Team AD/vantage by legendary tennis player Andy Murray; ElevenEleven Team USA, owned by U.S actress Eva Longoria; Team Bella Puerto Rico; and a fan-led Hexagon Cup team.
Born under the motto “For the Fans. For the Players. For the Game”, the Hexagon Cup features six teams, each featuring a male, female and Next Gen pair who compete for an impressive prize pool of one million euros, creating an exciting team competition and a unique experience for fans.
