LimeLight Sports Club and the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) have teamed up to revolutionize participation in this year’s Challenge London. Their shared objective is to eliminate barriers and make fitness accessible to all.
Taking place on August 6, 2023, Challenge London is the world’s largest city centre triathlon, and RBC will be hosting the RBC Community Challenge as a part of this incredible event.
The RBC Community Challenge aims to broaden participation and diversify audiences by introducing three additional elements to the Challenge London weekend.
Best of all, these extra challenges, including the RBC Community Cycling Challenge, RBC Community Open Water Swim, and RBC Community Super Sprint Triathlon, are provided for free by RBC to attract newcomers to the sport.
Mass participation events have an incredible impact on inspiring lifestyle changes, and RBC is encouraging community groups to unite and participate in shorter-distance events.
These events, ranging from approximately 25km to 50km cycles, 400m to 1,500m swims, or the Super Sprint Triathlon, serve as an introduction to triathlon, cycling, and swimming.
In addition to breaking down barriers to participation, the RBC Community Challenge also supports the community in a unique way. Participants who secure a free spot are encouraged to raise funds for either Challenge London’s official charity partner, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, or a charity of their choice.
Craig Dews, CEO at LimeLight Sports Club, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “At LimeLight Sports Club, we are constantly seeking meaningful partnerships and opportunities to diversify our events and promote inclusivity.
Thanks to the commitment from the Royal Bank of Canada, numerous individuals will now have the incredible opportunity to experience one of the world’s best triathlon events right in the heart of London.”
Dave Thomas, CEO of RBC Europe, added, “Promoting diversity and inclusion and supporting the communities where we operate are values that are important to everyone at RBC.
Collaborating with LimeLight Sports on the RBC Community Challenge provides an exciting opportunity to encourage individuals who may have never considered participating in such an event or believed it was beyond their reach.
They will experience the positive and transformative benefits of sports while also raising funds for charity. We can’t wait to see everyone in August.”
Challenge London, formerly known as the London Triathlon until its recent partnership with Challenge Family, offers six distances and challenges, catering to participants of all abilities.
The course takes participants past iconic landmarks such as Big Ben, the London Eye, and the Houses of Parliament, with the event commencing from the ExCeL Centre in East London, the heart of the Docklands.
