The excitement is palpable as USA GOLF proudly announces the star-studded women’s roster for the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
The formidable trio of World No. 1 and defending gold medalist Nelly Korda, rising star Lilia Vu, and the dynamic Rose Zhang will don the red, white, and blue at Le Golf National from August 7-10.
Returning to the Olympics for only the third time since 1904, golf enthusiasts are in for a thrilling display of skill and precision.
The 2024 lineup promises intense competition with 60 top players from around the globe vying in a 72-hole stroke-play format.
Nelly Korda: The Champion Returns
Leading Team USA is Nelly Korda, the reigning Olympic gold medalist who left an indelible mark at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Korda, hailing from Bradenton, Florida, is not just a champion but a beacon of excellence in women’s golf.
Reflecting on her Olympic journey, Korda expressed her enthusiasm, “I’m honoured to represent the United States once again on the Olympic stage this summer in Paris.
Winning the gold medal in Tokyo was a dream come true and an incredible highlight to my career. I’m looking forward to defending my gold medal and bringing home some more hardware for Team USA.”
Lilia Vu: A Dream Realized
Joining Korda is the talented Lilia Vu from Fountain Valley, California, who is set to make her Olympic debut.
Vu’s impressive ascent to the top ranks has been a testament to her dedication and skill.
Speaking about her Olympic journey, Vu shared, “Representing Team USA at the Olympics has been a goal of mine, and to now get the chance to head to Paris this summer is surreal.
I’m excited to be a part of this year’s competition and can’t wait to get out there and try to win a medal of my own in August.”
Rose Zhang: The Rising Star
Completing the trio is Rose Zhang from Irvine, California, another first-time Olympian who has quickly become a force to reckon with in women’s golf.
Zhang’s enthusiasm is infectious as she prepares for the global stage. “There’s nothing like wearing the red, white and blue on a global stage. To do so now at the Olympics is something I could only imagine and I’m incredibly grateful to be competing in Paris this summer.
I am so excited to join my teammates at Le Golf National in a few weeks and represent Team USA in front of the world.”
A Promising Outlook
These three exceptional athletes secured their spots on Team USA based on their standings in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, cemented after the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
USA GOLF Executive Director Andy Levinson couldn’t be prouder of the team, stating, “With the addition of Korda, Vu, and Zhang to the team, USA GOLF has an extremely talented group of men and women representing the United States this summer.
These three women enter Olympic golf competition with a combined eight victories on the LPGA Tour this season and are poised to reach the podium in Paris.”
Geared for Gold
In Paris, the American team will showcase their skills outfitted in a custom J.Lindeberg “Red, White, Blue for Gold” collection.
This collaboration underscores the pride and tradition of American golf, with J.Lindeberg’s CEO, Hans-Christian Meyer, emphasizing, “As these talented athletes take to the field, they will be expected to be standard-bearers of excellence.
And their gear, crafted with our utmost precision and care, will help them make that statement to the world.”
