Unibet Snaps Up Snooker’s British Open in a Spectacular Partnership

Unibet British Open I Trophy

The World Snooker Tour (WST) has announced Unibet as the new lead partner for snooker’s British Open, set to take place in Cheltenham this September.

This partnership promises to add an extra dash of excitement to an already thrilling event.

The Stage Is Set at Cheltenham’s Centaur Arena

Mark your calendars! From the 23rd to the 29th of September, the hallowed grounds of the Centaur Arena at Cheltenham Racecourse will be buzzing.

We’re not just talking about any gathering; this is where snooker’s crème de la crème, including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, and the world’s numero uno, Mark Allen, will strut their stuff.

The World Champion Kyren Wilson and the reigning champ Mark Williams will also be there, cue in hand, ready to defend their titles against a horde of eager challengers.

A Historical Hubbub with a Twist

Remember when snooker first charmed its way into our hearts back in 1985? Well, the British Open has been a beacon of top-tier snooker action ever since.

It’s not just about the big names duking it out; it’s the drama of the FA Cup-style draw – random, ruthless, and absolutely riveting. Every match could be a headline bout, and that starts right from round one!

The Road to Cheltenham Starts in Leicester

Before the main event in Cheltenham, the wheels start turning with the Unibet British Open qualifiers kicking off on July 31st in Leicester. It’s a snooker slugfest with 128 players vying for a spot in the big leagues.

The winners from these intense initial rounds will find themselves in Cheltenham, rubbing shoulders with the top 16 seeds in a showdown that promises snooker of the highest pedigree.

Peter Wright, WST’s Chief Commercial Officer, can barely contain his glee. “Partnering with Unibet is a thrill—innovative, fan-focused, and passionate about sport.

The British Open is an event that snooker aficionados mark in bold on their calendars, and we’re champing at the bit to see the magic unfold in Cheltenham,” he says, clearly over the moon about this new union.

Sam Mead, Unibet’s head honcho, is just as enthusiastic. “It’s a privilege to lead the charge at snooker’s British Open,” he remarks.

“With such a historic platform and a lineup that reads like a who’s who of snooker royalty, we’re set to make this a spectacular event. Plus, it’s all broadcasting live on ITV and across the globe—what’s not to love?”
