The UK’s Bonk Capital Revealed – Countryside Brits Having More Sex Than City Couples

Dangerous Room to Have Sex In

It appears that those countryside couples are proving that life in the sticks comes with a bit of extra spice. A recent nationwide survey reveals that Brits living in rural areas are, on average, getting it on eleven times a month—quite a jump from the eight monthly rendezvous reported by their urban counterparts.

But it’s not just about frequency. While city dwellers tend to settle for a single-bedroom gadget between them, those embracing the rural lifestyle boast an average of three playful devices tucked away in their drawers.

In a twist fit for a cheeky tabloid headline, a picturesque spot in The Cotswolds has even been dubbed the UK’s “bonk capital,” with local couples logging up to fifteen escapades a month.

The survey digs deeper into bedroom bravado too. Roughly 41 out of every 100 countryside couples are keen on role play—compared to about 34 in 100 city couples—while other adventurous pursuits such as threesomes, BDSM, and swinging also feature more prominently in the rural playbook.

Where Country Dwelling Brits Are Having the Most Sex
Rank Location Times a Month
1 The Cotswolds 15
2 Suffolk 14
3 Norfolk 13
4 Dorset 12
5 Lake District 12
6 Hampshire 12
7 South Downs 11
8 Kent 10
9 Cambridgeshire 9
10 Buckinghamshire 8

For instance, around 12 in 100 countryside couples have tried a threesome (versus 9 in 100 in the city), with similar upward trends seen for BDSM and swinging.

When it comes to the tools of the trade, the humble vibrator leads the charge. Nearly 29 in every 100 countryside residents admit to owning one, with about 19 in 100 enjoying it as a couple.

Handcuffs, penis rings, bondage gear, and even the occasional butt plug are also part of the rural repertoire.

Jon Horsely, Head of Insights at Perspectus Global—the mind behind the poll—summed it up nicely: “The British countryside isn’t all about tea parties and long, leisurely walks.

Our research shows that rural couples are turning up the heat and exploring ways to keep the bedroom buzz alive.”

Interestingly, the appetite for sexual adventure isn’t confined to a single age group. Both Gen Z and those in their 60s lead the charge, with roughly 60 in every 100 in each cohort claiming to be sexually adventurous, while fewer millennials—about 47 in every 100—feel the same.

Notably, nearly 78 in every 100 couples believe that staying on the same wavelength in the bedroom is a crucial ingredient for a lasting relationship.

Yet, a fair number aren’t completely satisfied, with around 42 in every 100 longing for a bit more kink, and about 32 in every 100 admitting they’d fancy a dalliance outside their current partnership.

In the end, it seems that the allure of the countryside isn’t just in its rolling hills and quiet charm—it’s also in the passion and creativity that flourishes behind closed doors.
