A New Dawn at The Hogarth Club: Solstice Reformer Pilates Studio Opens

Balanced Body Hogarth Club Reformer Studio

The Hogarth Club in Chiswick, London, one of the UK’s longest-standing health clubs, has stepped up its wellness offering with the launch of its striking new Solstice Reformer Pilates Studio.

In collaboration with Balanced Body, the club has repurposed existing office space to deliver a dedicated, high-end Reformer Pilates hub that’s already turning heads and bolstering its reputation for quality.

Tim Slater, Sales and Marketing Director at the Hogarth Club, said: “Mat Pilates has been a part of our programme for many years and has consistently been one of our most popular classes.

We have been contemplating adding a Reformer Pilates offer for a while, it was just a case of working out how a dedicated studio could be incorporated into our floorplan. The office space offered the perfect solution.”

And the solution is no half-measure. The studio, with seven Balanced Body Allegro 2 Reformers, has been carefully designed to blend functionality with elegant aesthetics.

Slater shared that a visit to Balanced Body’s UK Authorised Training Centre in Putney proved the catalyst for this transformation: “We knew we wanted the studio to marry functionality with beautiful aesthetics, and when our consultant and instructor, Shanti, visited the Putney studio she knew immediately that she wanted to recreate the same ambience at The Hogarth.”

Natural light streams through the Hogarth Club’s iconic oval windows, a feature that harmonises perfectly with the studio’s muted colour palette and crisp lines.

Slater added: “The lighting, the colour palette and the amazing natural light that flooded the room through the huge windows was exactly the look and feel she was imagining our members enjoying. I am pleased to say, her instinct was spot on and the design has translated perfectly into our space.”

With 38 Reformer Pilates classes on offer each week—each one strictly pre-booked to preserve intimacy—the Hogarth Club is keeping quality and safety at the forefront.

“Safety and quality are paramount,” Slater explains. “Keeping class sizes small allows us to provide a highly personalised experience. Even if we could find the space, we would prefer to keep these classes intimate.”

He’s adamant that any future growth will be measured and deliberate. “If the demand is there, we will increase the number of classes we offer each week and should a need arise for more Reformers, we would prefer to open a second studio rather than increase the class size,” he said.

“Our focus is always on delivering an exemplary member experience and in the case of Reformer Pilates, we feel this is best achieved where there is close contact with the instructor.”

The team behind the classes is no less impressive. It’s a handpicked group of seasoned instructors, some new to the Hogarth Club’s ranks, others promoted from within.

All share a passion for delivering high-quality, layered teaching techniques that cater to every ability, from total newcomers to seasoned practitioners.

Looking further ahead, the club plans to establish a Reformer Pilates Academy, ensuring that every instructor is trained and accredited to the highest standards.

Balanced Body, a global leader in Pilates equipment and education, has played a pivotal role in shaping the Hogarth Club’s new chapter. Katherine Ryzhova, Business Development Manager for Balanced Body UK, praised the partnership: “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Tim and the team.

Established almost 45 years ago, The Hogarth Club has long been a stable of the Chiswick fitness scene, fostering a loyal membership that spans decades.

Being able to now offer Reformer Pilates, arguably the fastest growing fitness modality in the world, will keep the club at the forefront of trends and innovation, helping to secure its place as a valuable contributor to the local community for many years to come.”
