In the heart of Nottinghamshire, a dazzling new facility is turning heads and hearts alike. This month, the official launch of the £9 million Warsop Health Hub marks a thrilling milestone in community wellness, proudly embodying Sport England’s innovative Leisure Local scheme.
Imagine a place where health and community converge in a celebration of fitness and vitality; that’s exactly what this new hub promises.
Andy Abrahams, the Executive Mayor for Mansfield, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm at the grand opening.
“I am thrilled that we are finally at the opening event for Warsop Health Hub, months ahead of schedule,” Abrahams exclaimed.
“It’s been a dream come true to see this community facility come to life, thanks to the tireless efforts of fellow councillors, officers, funding partners, and the dedicated parish residents.”
This new gem in Warsop isn’t just about bricks and mortar; it’s a holistic health haven crafted with care.
The hub boasts a 15m x 8m swimming pool complete with a splash play area for the little ones, a state-of-the-art gym brimming with the latest cardiovascular and resistance equipment, and a two-court sports hall.
But wait, there’s more! A multi-use games area, a reception area, and versatile community spaces, including an IT suite, round out the extensive offerings.
Accessibility is at the forefront of this facility’s design. The swimming pool includes a pool hoist and a changing village, alongside an accessible Changing Places area, ensuring that everyone in the community can enjoy these benefits.
“I look forward to seeing the community embrace the new facility and make the most of the opportunities it will bring for employment, aspiration, and overall health and wellbeing,” Abrahams added.
The journey to this grand opening involved a formidable team effort. Funded by Sport England, the Towns Fund, and Mansfield District Council’s borrowing, the Warsop Health Hub was brought to life by Alliance Leisure.
They partnered with project manager and principal designer Abacus, architects Roberts Limbrick, and lead contractor Pellikaan Construction.
Notably, the UK Leisure Framework, managed by Denbighshire Leisure Limited (DLL), was utilised to ensure a top-notch development team.
Gareth Liversedge, Business Development Manager at Alliance Leisure, shared his excitement: “We’ve assembled a dream team of leisure experts to design and deliver a facility that not only meets but exceeds the needs of the local community.
With energy-saving technologies like air source heat pumps and solar panels, we’ve ensured the building’s sustainability for generations to come.”
Gert-Jan Peeters, director at Pellikaan, reflected on the collaborative spirit of the project. “It’s fantastic to see the centre open after a year of dedicated work.
The smooth process was a testament to the excellent communication between all parties involved. Everyone, from client to subcontractor, was focused on creating a top-notch facility for the people of Warsop.”
The grand opening, held on June 1, 2024, saw the Mayor, community champion Graham Hall MBE, and Lord Lieutenant for Nottinghamshire Professor Veronica Pickering join forces in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
As the doors officially swung open, the community’s anticipation transformed into a vibrant reality.
