On an unusually splendid winter day in London’s classy Mayfair, the exquisitely adorned Langan’s brasserie hosted a gathering that was anything but ordinary.
This was the 10th Anniversary Lady Garden Foundation Annual Ladies Lunch, a pinnacle event in philanthropy for gynaecological cancer research.
The Lady Garden Foundation, celebrating a decade of impactful fundraising, put on a show of solidarity and elegance, drawing the attention of philanthropists, supporters of cancer research, and the community influenced by celebrity endorsements for a critical healthcare cause.
The charm of the event was not just in its opulent setting or the ‘Palm Royale’ themed floral arrangements by Whitney Bromberg-Hawkings of FLOWERBX but in the heartrending stories and the unwavering commitment of its attendees.
Among the distinguished guests were Princess Beatrice, Sarah Ferguson Duchess of York, Dame Joan Collins DBE, and notables from various walks of life including Jack Savoretti and Elizabeth Hurley, all united for a singular cause: to battle gynaecological cancers.
This notable lunch wasn’t just a meet-and-greet with high tea; it was a battlefield strategy session against a formidable enemy.
Each year, over 22,050 women are diagnosed with gynaecological cancer. That’s 60 women a day who have their worlds turned upside down. The Lady Garden Foundation has dedicated itself to turning these numbers around, having raised just under £3 million in the past decade, with the proceeds supporting the world-renowned Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
At the heart of the luncheon was an incredibly personal and powerful account by Nadia Le Tiec, a brave soul who, at just 27, faced a stage 4 ovarian cancer diagnosis.
Her journey included a gruelling 11-hour surgery and extensive treatment under the care of the esteemed Consultant Gynaecological Oncology Surgeon, John Butler, at The Royal Marsden.
Nadia’s story is a stark reminder of the critical need for awareness and early detection, especially among young women.
Jenny Halpern Prince, Co-Founder and Chair of The Lady Garden Foundation said of the event “With the rates of cervical screening declining, there really is a crisis in women’s health, which needs urgent attention.
I and the rest of The Lady Garden Foundation team are so pleased to have hosted another successful event to raise much-needed funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and are so grateful to everyone who has helped make it happen”.
Antonia Dalmahoy, Managing Director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, reinforced this message, applauding the foundation’s ten years of generosity.
She highlighted how their contributions have not only provided advanced medical equipment and essential patient services but have also driven pioneering research that benefits cancer patients across the globe. “Over the past decade, Lady Garden Foundation’s generous support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity has funded state-of-the-art equipment, vital support services for patients as they go through treatment, as well as pioneering gynaecological cancer research, which benefits cancer patients being treated not just at The Royal Marsden but across the UK and around the world.
“Reaching a 10-year fundraising milestone is an extraordinary achievement, and we are incredibly grateful to Lady Garden Foundation for their continued commitment to improving the lives of gynaecological cancer patients.”
The event, flawlessly executed by Emma Gold and her team at GSP Events, was more than a reflection on past triumphs—it was a renewed promise for the future.
A future where gynaecological cancers no longer cast a shadow over women’s lives. The Lady Garden Foundation Annual Ladies Lunch is a powerful example of how community and celebrity support can fuel the fight against cancer, making each gathering a crucial step toward finding a cure.
