The GOATs Have Arrived: Sergio Agüero Welcomes World Champions to Miami for Copa America

Sergio-Aguero

Football legend and Stake ambassador Sergio Agüero has rolled out the red carpet for Lionel Messi and his Argentina teammates in a rather unconventional yet fitting manner.

As the World Champions touched down in Miami, Agüero greeted them with a herd of goats, symbolically declaring, “The GOATs have arrived.”

This grand gesture is a testament to Argentina’s football prowess, aiming to place this current crop amongst the best ever.

Fresh off their triumphant victory in the 2021 Copa America, Argentina embarked on an impressive 36-game unbeaten run, culminating in their crowning glory against France in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Now, as they return to the Sunshine State, the reigning World Champions are on a mission to defend their Copa America crown and cement themselves as one of international football’s greatest teams of all time.

A Herd of GOATs for the Greatest Team

With optimism and pride, Agüero welcomed the team, highlighting their potential for back-to-back Copa America success.

The former Manchester City striker, known for his 100 caps for Argentina, shared his thoughts on the team’s prospects.

He told Stake, “Argentina is always a candidate… but, pressure? I don’t think so. I think we’re used to this. Now, it’s about preserving the style and team-concept we’ve developed. We won what we’ve won because of this.”

Agüero emphasized the importance of continuity and the natural integration of new talent into the team.

“The players that were part of that process should pass it on to the newcomers. It’s great that it happens naturally.

The national squad is richer for all the new talent, and they’ll keep growing because of this,” he added.

Miami: A Home Away from Home

Agüero, who has embraced the Miami lifestyle, views the city as a home from home for South Americans, especially with Messi now playing for Inter Miami.

“There’s a big expat community in Miami of Argentineans, and many other Latin Americans who support our side,” he noted.

“With Leo playing in the local Inter, that sentiment grows even more. But there are a lot of Mexicans, Colombians, Venezuelans too.

We can say that Miami is likely the place with the most people rooting for different teams of Copa America at least.”

Agüero and Messi, both having shared the pitch with some of the greatest players in football history, found themselves in the company of a different kind of GOAT this time.

Overlooking Biscayne Bay, Agüero humorously remarked, “I’ve played with the GOAT, and it was great to spend the day with some more of his kind!

If Argentina can win Copa America, then they can cement their legacy as one of the Greatest Teams of All Time.”

A Special Connection

Dom Rae, Sponsorship Manager at Stake, echoed the sentiment of Miami’s unique connection with Argentina.

“Miami and Argentina have a special connection and it is the perfect location to welcome the Copa America and World Champions as they look to add to their legacy,” he said.

“Copa America is the pinnacle of football in South America, and with some amazing sides in the competition, it is sure to be a memorable tournament.

We are glad to have one of the Greatest of All Time as part of the Stake family, with Sergio as Stake Ambassador.”

As the Copa America unfolds, the football world watches eagerly. With Sergio Agüero leading the charge, Argentina aims to showcase why they truly are the GOATs of international football.
