To celebrate the first-ever F1 Grand Prix in Miami, AlphaTauri and Scuderia AlphaTauri collaborated with artist and visionary Remote (aka Jay Bellicchi), part of the eclectic art collective ARTPLUG, for a special project at the amazing MetroWrapz facility to embrace local art, culture and fashion, while raising money for charity.
Remote has been given the opportunity to apply a unique graffiti design directly on a Formula One car, inspired by the vibrant colours of the AlphaTauri Fashion Spring/Summer collection.
The colourful and stylish Showcar will be on display at the completely new and bespoke Red Bull Energy Station, which has been designed and built, especially for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix in Florida.
Before the race weekend, drivers Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda met up with Remote to discover more about graffiti culture, the Miami art scene and to have a first look at the repainted F1 car.
In homage to this art project, the same graffiti design will also be featured on the headrest of both AT03 cars raced in Miami while Remote surprised Tsunoda with a special helmet paint job too.
Japanese pilot Tsunoda, 21, revealed: “I am super grateful for the special helmet design that Jay made for me. I had not seen it live before today and it looks super cool. I cannot wait to wear it on track.”
Both drivers also tried their graffiti skills on blank helmets, which will be auctioned off to raise money for the Wings For Life Foundation alongside their global Wings for Life World Run on Sunday, May 8.
Not only that, both helmets will be digitalised as a NFT and can be bought on a dedicated homepage while the buyer will also be able to redeem their NFT until the end of the 2022 season to receive the physical helmet and the race gloves of each driver worn at the Miami GP.
Gasly, 26, enthused: “I am a big fan of the vibrant art scene here in Miami and I love the design that Remote has created for us.
Furthermore, Miami is a major hub for the crypto community, which is why I was here earlier this year for the announcement of our extended partnership with Fantom.
I think it is the perfect opportunity for AlphaTauri and our F1 team to launch this special NFT project here and I hope we will raise a lot of money to support the Wings For Life Foundation.”
AlphaTauri’s Spring/Summer colour palette of jade, lilac and light blue was translated into a fast-forward car design with Remote using technical drawings and mood boards of the AlphaTauri collection to incorporate the fashion brand’s precision and craftsmanship into the design.
Remote explained: “I was super thrilled when I got the call to collaborate. I must say it was a completely new challenge for me to apply my art on the beautifully sculptured surface of an F1 car compared to a flat wall, but I am very satisfied with the outcome. I am also super proud that my design will be visible on the race cars’ headrests and Yuki’s helmet.”
Scuderia AlphaTauri Commercial Director Fabian Wrabetz said: “When Miami was announced, we immediately knew that we needed to do something special given its world-renowned fashion, art and lifestyle scene, which perfectly fits our Team.
AlphaTauri, Jay, ARTPLUG and the Metrowrapz crew have been amazing in turning this idea into reality.”
AlphaTauri CEO Ahmet Mercan added: “The design gets across the mood of our current collection and fits perfectly into the summery Miami atmosphere.”
