In a refreshing effort to get more women climbing walls and tackling new heights, UK outdoor brand Rab has teamed up with Boulder UK.
This partnership is all about welcoming women into the climbing world, whether they’re taking their first steps or already crushing it on the walls.
At the core of the Rab and Boulder UK partnership is the Women’s Social initiative—a monthly meet-up with a twist.
Taking place on the last Thursday of every month, these sessions are all about low-pressure climbing with Boulder UK’s expert coaches, building connections with fellow climbers, and soaking up inspiring talks that cover everything from nailing techniques to the mental side of the sport. Whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned wall-scaler, there’s something here for everyone.
“We want the Rab Women’s Social at Boulder UK to be a source of fun, psyche, learning, and community for women of all levels and backgrounds,” says Tanya Meredith, Boulder UK Co-owner.
“These events provide an important platform to raise the profile of women in climbing, who are out there doing really cool things.”
Jessica Burton, UK Marketing Manager at Rab, shares the enthusiasm. “Our mission is to inspire, support and motivate adventurers and mountain people, so introducing newcomers to climbing indoors offers a fantastic chance to learn, develop technique, and build confidence for their outdoor pursuits – and Boulder UK is the perfect place for this.
Tanya, Neil and their team have created an inspiring and supportive atmosphere that nurtures young talent through development pathways, as well as engaging with individuals who just want to climb for the social. It’s brilliant to see their sponsored athletes acting as role models at all levels.”
Situated near the breathtaking climbing destinations of the Lake District and Yorkshire, Boulder UK has been a cornerstone of the climbing community since 2003. More than just a training facility, it’s a welcoming space designed to motivate climbers to reach their full potential.
But the Rab Boulder UK Partnership doesn’t stop at monthly socials. Rab is also stepping up as the headline sponsor of the Plywood Masters, the longest-running bouldering-only competition that celebrates community, skill, and the inclusive spirit of climbing.
Looking ahead, there are plans for outdoor climbing experiences in collaboration with Esther Foster Climbing Coaching & Guiding, bridging the gap between indoor walls and the great outdoors.
“We’re looking forward to evolving our socials with our members and taking them outdoors,” Tanya adds, highlighting the exciting future of this initiative.
Whether you’re just starting out or aiming to push your climbing to new heights, the Rab Boulder UK Partnership is making waves in the climbing community. It’s an adventure you won’t want to miss.
