With just 48 days to go until the start of The Ocean Race 2022-23, Musto has announced Dutch offshore sailing trailblazer, Rosalin Kuiper (27) as the latest ambassador to join its roster of international sailing talent. Kuiper, from Zoetermeer, Netherlands, is a co-skipper onboard Team Malizia’s IMOCA, Malizia-Seaexplorer, skippered by fellow Musto Ambassador, Boris Herrmann (GER).
The 14th edition of the world’s longest and toughest sporting event sets off from Alicante, Spain on 15 January 2023, on a 32,000 nautical mile race around the planet.
Kuiper is the only Dutch sailor taking part in The Ocean Race. She started sailing at the age of six in an Optimist on a lake close to her home and now has over 55,000 nautical miles under her belt.
Seven years ago Kuiper set herself the target of competing in The Ocean Race and has since participated in classic ocean races such as the Sydney Hobart Race, the Rolex Fastnet Race, The Caribbean 600, and in 2021 took part in The Ocean Race Europe as a trimmer aboard AkzoNobel Ocean Race.
Musto, the world’s number one performance sailing brand, and a global leader in outdoor clothing apparel is kitting out two of the five IMOCA crews competing in the next edition of The Ocean Race: Team Malizia and the United States flagged 11th Hour Racing Team, skippered by Charlie Enright (USA).
Both Musto crews will be racing in the soon-to-be-launched all-new HPX Collection, which has been developed and tested by a number of #TeamMusto sailing ambassadors.
Rosalin Kuiper said: “Musto is the perfect partner for me because we both have technology and innovation as our number one priority.
“Performance is about taking a step forward every day, being flexible and anticipating the changing world. Musto is the partner that is always looking to improve, change, and optimise; constantly striving for the best results.
They inspire athletes to bring out the very best in themselves. They also have a strong stance for inspiring and supporting women in sailing. I look forward to working with them to optimise and develop the women’s line with my ten years of experience as a professional ocean sailor.”
Nick Houchin, Head of Marketing at Musto, said, “Rosalin is a great role model for young sailors who dream of racing offshore and shows what can be achieved with hard work and dedication.
Her perseverance and professionalism are the perfect fit for the Musto brand. The Ocean Race is always hugely significant for the sport and with two leading teams sponsored by Musto in the race, and the upcoming launch of the all new HPX range, 2023 is going to be a huge year for everyone at Team Musto.”
