Red light therapy is gearing up to steal the spotlight as one of 2025’s biggest wellness trends. According to fresh global research, nearly one in five UK adults have already jumped on the bandwagon—and that number soars to almost half for those under 35.

Backed by celebrity fans and supported by accessible tools like L.E.D face masks and infrared saunas, this form of light-based treatment has surged in popularity.

According to a new report from premium wellness brand BON CHARGE, which surveyed over 7,000 adults worldwide (including the UK, US, Australia, and UAE), uptake has soared: among UK users, two-thirds began using red light in the past two years.

Why We’re All Glowing When it comes to reasons for trying red light therapy, younger-looking skin is high on the list. Nearly a quarter (23%) of those surveyed say they use it to combat skin concerns, while 21% turn to it for improved sleep.

Meanwhile, many people (32%) are leaning on it to ease tension in muscles and joints. For women and those under 35, the focus often skews beauty-related—while those over 35 tend to use it for soothing aches.

Social media has also played its part: among under-35s, almost a quarter (22%) say a celebrity or influencer endorsement prompted them to give red light therapy a go.

Global Snapshot

  • UAE: A staggering 70% of adults here use red light therapy—far outpacing anywhere else. Around a third (30%) use it monthly, with 37% receiving recommendations from skin specialists.
  • Australia: More than half (53%) of younger Aussies have hopped on the bandwagon in the last two years, and 38% of men say relief for muscles and joints is their main reason for using it.
  • United States: Adoption among men is particularly strong (around 40%), with improved sleep being a priority for 28%.
  • United Kingdom: Uptake lags behind other regions but is rising fast in the 18-34 bracket; 73% started in the last two years, primarily for muscle relaxation and skincare.

“As consumers increasingly seek accessible, results-driven tools for managing their overall wellness, red light therapy has emerged as a game-changer,” says Katie Mant, the Welsh co-founder of BON CHARGE.

“Our research underscores its impact on key areas like skin appearance, sleep, and recovery, showcasing its role in shaping the future of proactive wellness.”

Andy Mant, founder of BON CHARGE, adds:”My wife Katie and I founded BON CHARGE after struggling with our sleep, and seeing the incredible benefits that it brought not only to our sleep quality, but many other areas of our life – from our skin to muscle recovery, and it’s amazing to see that others are now seeing this benefit for themselves,”

“We see red light therapy being a major trend in 2025 due to its proven – and accessible – benefits for improving skin appearance, faster recovery post-exercise, supporting weight management goals, and overall wellness, combined with increasing accessibility, scientific backing, and the growing demand for non-invasive, at-home holistic wellness products. We’re only just getting started with regards to the products available – so watch this space.”

Buoyed by eager younger users, the rise of home-friendly devices, and plenty of celebrity hype, red light therapy is set to stay front and centre in the wellness world for the long haul.
