If you haven’t heard of NRG Gym yet, you might want to come out from under that rock!
This 24/7 gym chain is making some serious moves, with three new openings planned across the UK in the next year.
That’s right, they’re not slowing down, and if you’re into fitness or just curious about joining a gym that never sleeps, this could be your next stop.
Last month, they opened their latest spot in Newcastle—talk about impressive. This place is massive, with over 35,000 square feet of space.
They’ve got a little bit of everything for everyone: a dedicated boxing zone, a female-only training area for when you just want some privacy, a spin studio to burn off some steam, and Olympic lifting platforms for when you’re feeling strong. Oh, and saunas—because who doesn’t love a good sweat after a workout?
If you’re into functional training, they’ve also kitted out the place with a TRX Studio Line, complete with suspension trainers.
Think of it as a playground for grown-ups who like a challenge. And honestly, it’s one of the biggest gyms in Newcastle, so no matter your fitness style, you’ll find something here.
Now, here’s a bit of history: NRG Gym first opened its doors 11 years ago in Gravesend, thanks to founder Shafiq Ahmed, a guy with 20 years of experience in leisure, finance, and retail.
He’s built these gyms on more than just treadmills and weights—he’s built a community. They call it the “NRG Tribe,” and the idea is to bring together people who are passionate about health and fitness, and give them a place they actually want to be a part of.
Fast forward to today, and NRG Gym has grown to seven locations, with sites in Manchester, Sheffield, Walsall, Lewisham, Watford, and more. They’re not stopping anytime soon, either.
Shafiq puts it best: “At NRG Gym, our members are at the heart of everything we do. We work hard every day to create a positive, welcoming atmosphere where our members feel happy and safe. It’s somewhere they want to train and feel proud to be part of.”
It’s clear NRG isn’t just about having a space to work out—it’s about making people feel like they belong. And that’s what makes it special.
