Bannatyne and Myzone Partner For Lockdown Fitness

Bannatyne and Myzone4

The Bannatyne Group has partnered with Myzone to enable its members to continue tracking their fitness progression when participating in virtual classes.

Members are now able to connect their Myzone belt to the virtual classes through the Bannatyne app to enable them to monitor their own workouts and compete with other members to give extra motivation while the health clubs are closed.

The Myzone connection also enables virtual class instructors to give feedback to participants, helping to create a more realistic comparison to an in-person class.

Myzone is a heart rate-based system that uses wireless and cloud technology to accurately monitor physical activity.

Myzone monitors heart rate, calories and time exercising that convert into Myzone Effort Points (MEPs), with a focus on rewarding effort rather than fitness.

Oliver Cox, head of fitness programming at The Bannatyne Group, said: “I am really pleased we are able to work in partnership with Myzone to offer our members an engaging way to keep fit while we are closed.

“We have used the Myzone technology in our health clubs for many years and have always received fantastic feedback from members. It enables people to track their own progression as well as providing a platform in which members are able to engage in healthy competition if they wish to do so.

“Members who do not currently own a Myzone belt can buy one through our app for a discounted price.”

Jemma Marriott, business development manager at Myzone, said: “Physical activity is a huge part of the nation’s wellbeing, and the ability to link Myzone belts to The Bannatyne Group’s virtual classes will help to provide the motivation for more people to keep moving when they need it most.

“A lot of users also thrive on the friendly rivalries that the colour zone system creates, ensuring their exercise regimes stay on track as well as bringing them closer to other members, trainers and their club.

“Embracing technology that draws communities together has become an essential part of life that’s not going away. We are delighted to provide this engaging opportunity for Bannatyne’s Myzone users.”
