The biggest Para swimming event of the year has been officially named as the Manchester 2023 Allianz Para Swimming World Championships. The competition will take place from 31 July to 6 August at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.
This will be the 11th edition of the World Championships and it marks the second time Allianz joins the event as title sponsor, following a successful partnership at London 2019.
A total of 548 swimmers from 67 nations are set to compete in Manchester. It will also be the third time the competition is held in Great Britain following Glasgow in 2015 and London in 2019.
The London 2019 World Para Swimming Allianz Championships saw 188 records broken, including 39 world records and over 143 million people watching around the globe.
Craig Nicholson, head of World Para Swimming said: “We are thrilled to have Allianz returning as the title partner of the World Championships.
Allianz has a long history of support for Para swimming and has also previously been the title sponsor of the European Championships in Dublin 2018.
This is the biggest event in the sport before the Paralympic Games in Paris and we cannot wait to see the world’s best in action at the Manchester Aquatics Centre.”
Carolyn Rich, head of brand marketing and social responsibility, Allianz Commercial, added: “We’re excited to be back as Partner of the Para Swimming World Championships this year.
Allianz has been supporting the Paralympic Movement since 2006, getting behind the athlete community – their dedication and preparation is just inspiring. We look forward to seeing great competitions, emotional moments and some qualifications for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.”
