World Athletics has announced the release of a new toolkit designed for children worldwide who want to participate in Kids’ Athletics Day 2023.
The “Kids’ Athletics Day at home” toolkit provides children with everything they need to get moving and have fun on May 7th, even if they don’t have access to an organised Kids’ Athletics Day activity.
It includes activity cards with instructions for various games, a template to design their dream spikes, and an activity pyramid with different running, jumping, and balancing challenges.
The toolkit is easy to print at home or school, enabling kids to get active in their backyards, playgrounds, or with their friends, safely.
The French and Spanish versions of the toolkit will also be available soon. This new toolkit is part of World Athletics’ Kids’ Athletics Day celebrations, which encourages children worldwide to MOVE, PLAY, EXPLORE, and celebrate being active by participating in athletics.
The Kids’ Athletics Day is an annual global celebration that takes place on May 7th and is dedicated to children and young people being active by participating in athletics.
It is the cornerstone of World Athletics’ Kids’ Athletics program, a free program that aims to inspire children to develop their skills and confidence while connecting with sports for life.
World Athletics has launched a global Kids’ Athletics Day Challenge to all Member Federations and continental Area Associations to achieve its goal of getting 400,000 children active on May 7th.
The Member Federation and Area Association with the best participation rates, social media engagement levels, and innovation will receive a one-off prize of US$10,000 each.
To support clubs and Member Federations, World Athletics has made available a general toolkit that includes marketing assets and suggested activities for Kids’ Athletics Day 2023.
World Athletics encourages everyone to share images from their own celebrations on social media using the hashtag #KidsAthleticsDay to reach as many children as possible across the globe and get them moving.
To be eligible for the prize, Area Associations must submit a case study showing how they supported Kids’ Athletics Day or showcase examples or activities organised by Member Federations in the area.
The Kids’ Athletics Day toolkit is available on the World Athletics website.
GET INVOLVED ON SOCIAL MEDIA
World Athletics will be sharing photos of people, events and organisations across the world who have joined to celebrate Kids’ Athletics Day.
They invite everyone taking part in the day’s events, whether through a club or organisation, at school, or at home, to share images from their own celebrations using the hashtag #KidsAthleticsDay.
Their goal is to be as inclusive as possible, and to reach as many children as they can across the globe to get them moving!
*For an Area Association to be eligible, we ask that they submit a case study to show how they supported Kids’ Athletics Day and/or showcase examples or activities organised by MFs in the area.
