Jürgen Klopp, the charismatic former Reds boss, has officially become the first honorary ambassador for the LFC Foundation.
Even after stepping down from his managerial role at Liverpool FC, Klopp’s dedication to the club’s official charity endures, underscoring his unwavering commitment to community service.
Klopp has been a long-time advocate for the LFC Foundation, engaging in numerous activities to bolster its mission.
From hosting visitors at the AXA Training Centre to publicly lauding the foundation’s crucial work across the Liverpool City Region, Klopp’s support has been both vocal and tangible. His presence at various events has significantly helped raise awareness and funds for the charity.
Famously, Klopp once dubbed the LFC Foundation as the “best department at the club,” highlighting the “incredible” efforts made daily to uplift the community.
This accolade is a testament to the profound impact the foundation has had, extending well beyond the football pitch.
In a touching gesture following Klopp’s final game in charge, the LFC Foundation auctioned off a collection of unique items worn and signed by him.
This initiative garnered an astounding £40,000 within just a week, showcasing the immense support and admiration from the fanbase.
Reflecting on his new role, Klopp expressed his pride and enthusiasm: “The LFC Foundation does an incredible job in the community, both in the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
I am really proud to continue my work with them and be named the first-ever LFC Foundation honorary ambassador. I look forward to seeing what we can do with that now that I have more time on my hands.”
Matt Parish, CEO of the LFC Foundation, also shared his excitement: “We are delighted that Jürgen is continuing his support of the Foundation as our first honorary ambassador.
Having his support has been priceless for us over the years and to have that continue is fantastic and highlights his commitment to the Foundation and the work that we continue to do across the Liverpool City Region.
Jürgen’s love and passion for the city has been clear throughout his time at the club and it can only benefit us having his support and his voice championing the work that we do moving forward.”
The LFC Foundation’s impact is indeed noteworthy. During the 2022-23 season alone, the foundation supported 123,000 individuals.
Over the past three years, it has delivered more than £65 million in health benefits and injected over £16 million directly into the local economy.
A remarkable example of the foundation’s fundraising success is last season’s Legends game against Ajax, which raised nearly £1.2 million.
This record-breaking event significantly bolstered the foundation’s education programs, which address various social issues and aim to improve the life chances of young people in the local community.
