For the first time since being crowned ‘Queen of the Jungle’, former England international Jill Scott MBE will be returning to Australia in July as co-host of Lionesses: Down Under, connected by EE, alongside TV presenter and media personality Kyle Walker.
The daily show gives fans exclusive access inside the England camp and updates from the squad throughout the duration of their tournament.
Scott, who was capped 161 times by England and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Women’s EURO last summer, will present from the Lionesses camp with popular sports presenter Kyle Walker.
The pair will bring the latest news and updates from the team to fans watching across the world as the competition progresses.
After the success of Lionesses Live, connected by EE, which aired throughout the EURO, Lionesses: Down Under connected by EE will be broadcast for the duration of England’s time at the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Taking fans on the Lionesses’ journey, the show will be aired every non-game day with all the latest news and reaction from the tournament, giving fans a variety of content including interviews with members of the squad and insights from behind the scenes.
The show will also include a variety of special guests and a number of competitions and giveaways for fans back home to get involved in as they watch the tournament unfold.
To kick off the Women’s World Cup proceedings, a one-off departure show will air on Wednesday 5 July to send the Lionesses off, hosted by Kyle Walker and Abbie McCarthy as the squad prepares to travel to Australia.
The daily broadcasts will then start on Wednesday 19 July and will air every day at 12.30 pm UK time for the duration of England’s tournament, except for on matchdays.
Jill Scott MBE, Host of Lionesses: Down Under, connected by EE, said: “This is the first tournament since I retired, so I would have had FOMO (fear of missing out) if I wasn’t out there, and if I hadn’t been asked to do this show, I think I would have been out there as a fan.
It is a real honour to be presenting with Kyle and to have the chance to chat with the girls behind the scenes.
Knowing their personalities and how much fun we had doing Lionesses Live, connected by EE last year, I’m hoping we can be that link to give fans the best experience of the tournament possible from the other side of the world.”
Matt Stevenson, (Head of Group Sponsorship, Hospitality, Ticketing & Events) at EE commented: “As Lead Partner of the Lionesses, EE is once again excited to collaborate with The FA to ensure England fans stay connected to the players during the tournament with Lionesses: Down Under.
EE is committed to making football accessible to everyone, supporting the women’s game through initiatives encouraging growth through participation and coaching.
During this one-of-a-kind show, we are looking forward to sharing details on how other aspiring players and coaches can get involved with these initiatives.”
