When the folks who spend their days keeping the rest of us alive and well get a moment to breathe, they deserve the best when it comes to their own health and fitness.

Enter DoingOurBit, a comprehensive wellness platform built with the well-being of NHS and social care workers in mind.

This initiative is all about making fitness accessible, with routines that are medically approved, practical, and designed to support those who need it most—whether they’re new to exercise or managing long-term health conditions.

Backing this effort are two key players in the leisure sector: Fun And Moving (FAM) and Johnson Digital.

Both have jumped on board to bring their expertise to the table, making DoingOurBit a free resource for NHS and social care staff.

Fun and Moving’s Contribution

Fun And Moving, or FAM for short, has created a series of exercise routines specifically for the DoingOurBit app.

These routines range from 5 to 45 minutes and focus on everything from rehab and balance to memory care and healthy movement through activities like dance, Tai Chi, yoga, and Pilates.

These aren’t just any routines either—they’ve been crafted with beginners and people with long-term conditions in mind.

Whether you’re seated or standing, the idea is to gently get your heart rate up without the risk of injury. According to Pat Goddard, UK Marketing Manager at FAM, “Fun And Moving helps people stay healthy long-term by providing sustainable health plans of action.

We love the way that DoingOurBit cares for the caregivers: if NHS and social care workers are not healthy and fit long-term, how can they take care of others? We saw a natural synergy with DoingOurBit and are proud to be a partner.”

Johnson Digital Steps In

Not to be outdone, Johnson Digital has thrown its weight behind DoingOurBit as well. Known for their DJ-curated workout sessions that sync perfectly with high-quality music, they’re adding a little rhythm to the app.

Whether you’re doing a yoga flow or a high-intensity interval workout (HIIT), the music is there to keep you in the zone. It’s about creating a more enjoyable and effective exercise experience.

Antony Stewart, Johnson Digital’s digital fitness director in Europe, points out the importance of supporting NHS staff. “The NHS is at the forefront in the battle against obesity and inactivity and needs all of our support to deliver preventative as well as curative medicine to our population.

DoingOurBit is doing a great job encouraging NHS and social care workers to be active and well, and we are delighted to play our part and support this initiative.”

Building on a Strong Foundation

The support from Fun And Moving and Johnson Digital builds on DoingOurBit’s original purpose: to provide free fitness content for NHS and social care staff, especially during those tough early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The platform was initially driven by fitness trainers donating their time and content to help healthcare workers stay active while they looked after the rest of us.

That commitment continues today with these new partners stepping in to broaden the scope of activities and improve the overall experience.

Get Involved

There’s still plenty of room for others to get involved, too. DoingOurBit is more than a feel-good initiative; it’s a platform where businesses and organizations can make a meaningful contribution to the health and wellness of the very people who are keeping society going.
