Barbarian F.C. will return to Twickenham as the visiting side on Sunday 19 June to face England ahead of the national side’s summer tour to Australia.
Tickets are on sale now priced from £25 for adults and £12 for under 16s. Group packages are also available on adult tickets.
An England XV last hosted Barbarians in June 2019, with Alex Dombrandt and Marcus Smith among the point scorers as the home side won 51-43.
The previous fixture, in May 2018, saw the fortunes reversed as the Barbarians put nine tries past England in a 45-63 victory that saw Chris Ashton score a hat-trick within 25 minutes and dazzling performances from Victor Vito, Greig Laidlaw, Semi Radradra and Finn Russell amongst others turning out in the famous black and white of the invitational side.
John Spencer, President of Barbarian F.C., said: “We are delighted to be returning to Twickenham to face England once again this June.
The Barbarians have a long history of playing this national side and the fixture promises thrilling rugby, reignited rivalries and the opportunity for some familiar faces to line up against former teammates.
“It often brings out the epitome of Barbarians rugby – friendship, enjoyment, flair and skill.
As we begin building our squad and coaching staff, we will be aiming to combine a group of players who will follow on from our Barbarian Women’s exceptional performance and bring smiles to the faces of everyone watching.
“As a Club we have of course not had the easiest time coming to Twickenham in recent months, with the very notable exception of the wonderful display of entertaining and enjoyable rugby the Barbarian Women and Springbok Women’s XV put on in the Killik Cup back in November.
We therefore are looking forward to returning as worthy opponents of England in June. We intend to put out a strong, exciting and passionate team and put on a spectacular afternoon of rugby – for England, and for the fans.”
England Head Coach Eddie Jones said: “The Barbarians fixture is a special one in rugby, it’s always a good challenge for the players, entertaining for supporters and showcases the spirit of the game.
“It’s been great to play back in full stadiums again and we know this game is one that the fans enjoy and we’re looking forward to playing in front of the Twickenham crowd.
“It will also be a good preparation for us ahead of an important tour to Australia.”
