Coco Gauff Claims Roland Garros Crown and Steps into Tennis History

Coco Gauff French Open - NB

Coco Gauff made history this weekend in the Parisian clay, conquering the Roland Garros final and capturing her second Grand Slam singles trophy.

The 21-year-old American prodigy showed the world exactly why Coco Gauff has been touted as the future of women’s tennis. In a final that had all the tension of a Shakespearean play, Gauff fought back against world number one Aryna Sabalenka with a blend of grit and grace to claim her maiden French Open singles title.

The echoes of Gauff’s victory will be felt far beyond Court Philippe-Chatrier. Since 2018, New Balance has stood firmly in her corner, crafting custom kit and limited-edition sneakers that are as much a part of her persona as her backhand.

For this tournament, they produced a marbled court kit and a custom leather walk-on jacket that made her entrance feel as regal as her eventual coronation.

And at the heart of it all was her second signature shoe, the New Balance Coco CG2. Built with the same fighting spirit that fuels Gauff’s game, the CG2 is a high-performance weapon disguised as a fashion icon.

As the final’s red dust settled, Coco Gauff was seen slipping into a silver-and-gold iteration of the New Balance x Miu Miu 530 SL sneaker, an exquisite piece of craftsmanship that will arrive in Miu Miu stores worldwide and online from September 10th as part of the New Balance x Miu Miu Coco Gauff collection.

“This means so much to be here, in this final. Thank you to Aryna, every time we play it is such a tough match! My family is the reason I do this and my brothers always push me to be the best.

I am so grateful for the French crowd, thank you for always supporting me! Paris is one of my favourite cities in the world and I am so happy to win this Grand Slam!” Coco Gauff said, beaming with the poise of a champion and the spirit of a fighter.

Chris Davis, Brand President & Chief Marketing Officer at New Balance, summed up the triumph with refreshing honesty: “For Coco to win in her favourite city, wearing her very own signature shoe, with the world watching, is something young athletes all over the world dream about.

Coco Gauff French Open - New Balance

New Balance is so proud of our seven-year partnership with Coco and the Gauff family. She is 21 years old and just getting started.”

Indeed, Gauff’s journey is far from over. With Wimbledon looming on June 30th, she’ll stride onto the grass courts wearing a newly minted White with Green Apple colourway of the CG2 and New Balance apparel, ready to write the next chapter in her rapidly growing legend.

Coco Gauff’s victory in Paris wasn’t just another Grand Slam title—it was a statement to the world that she’s only getting started.
