Duncan Bannatyne’s first ever health club, at Ingleby Barwick on Teesside, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The club’s birthday marks the ‘silver jubilee’ of the fitness and wellbeing business, which was founded by CEO and chairman Duncan Bannatyne OBE in 1997.
Since then, the group has built up a portfolio of 69 health clubs, 47 spas and four hotels.
Over the years the Ingleby Barwick club, in Myton Road, has expanded and developed. Today it boasts a well-equipped gym, pool, sauna, steam room, and a bar-café with a soft play area and outdoor patio area.
The gym features the latest cardiovascular and resistance equipment, an expanded free weights section and a cutting-edge functional training zone with Technogym Onmia 8.
There are studios for a range of exercise classes including group cycling and mind and body sessions. The health club also has a functional training room, and a function room, which regularly hosts private parties.
Five years ago, a Bannatyne Spa added a new dimension to the facilities with six treatment rooms, manicure and pedicure stations and a range of spa treatments and spa days using high-quality products including Elemis and OPI.
Duncan Bannatyne OBE said: “Ingleby Barwick will always be extra special with it being the first club I opened when I launched the health club business all those years ago.
“It is amazing how far the business has come from those small beginnings with an estate now stretching nationwide.
“The ethos of the clubs has evolved and expanded from concentrating on exercise to one with a holistic focus on physical and mental wellbeing and encouraging all-round healthy lifestyles.
“Our health clubs, spas and staff are proud to offer a mix of exercise, relaxation and rejuvenation to their members.
“Happy Birthday to Ingleby Barwick – here’s to the next 25 years!”
Members will celebrate the milestone at a party on 15th October.
